SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE on Robbs MetalWorks 2024

Музыка

International metal bands (from a variety of countries) are commonplace in the 2000's. It began in the 80's with the NWOBHM & bands like Maiden, Saxon & Judas Priest. The next incarnation began when the Swedes began making their presence felt with names like Celtic Frost & Yngwie Malmsteeen searing their heads through the underground; BUT it was the emergence of Sepultura in the early 90's that dawned a NEW era for making METAL music a TRUE worldwide force to reckon with. Sep represented, not only the first real Latin metal band to breakthrough the underground, but the first band spawned from a 3rd world country. It was unprecedented & for many Latinos in America it birthed a sense of pride & dignity. The doors that Sep walked through ALSO opened the doors for many other great bands from that part of the world to follow suit; band like: Puya, Nervosa, Violencia, Crypta & Angra to name a few. NOW, we can add Monterrey's, Spit On Your Grave (S.O.Y.G.) to that list! This death metal outfit which formed in 2012 has been grinding it out in Mexico for quite some time having released a couple of full lengths & few EP's throughout that time. BUT, 2024 saw the band release their DEFINING piece of work on April 12th with the brutal & mature, 'Arkanum'. Incorporating thrashy grooves and elements of black metal into their death, 'Arkanum' represents a HUGE growth for the band musically, as well as conceptually with lyrical themes that stem into the realm of tarot card wizardry. I immediately became a fan & knew I wanted to support this record. AND, thanks to JC Productions I was able to do just that on June 15th, 2024, as we welcomed the band (& their entourage) to the RMW Studio for a fun filled chat. SO, in the interview below you will see us discuss the following: the formation/evolution of the band, the recording process, lyrical themes, EPs vs full lengths, touring plans, videos, the Monterrey metal scene & MUCH MORE! I want to THANK SOYG for a sharing their ALL on camera (even in Spanish) & for being good hearted people. Thanks, as well to JC for working with me once again & creating an unforgettable moment. To the Familia - I hope you truly ENJOY this one & will jam 'Arkanum' SOON. ~ El Mero Metal #SpitOnYourGrave #arkanum #robbsmetalworks
