I was using spironolactone and birth control for almost over two years but I just ran out. While my period was regulated, my facial hair had VERY LITTLE CHANGES. I recently found Mayo D-Chiro Inositol with Folic Acid and I am taking Saw Palmetto capsules as well. I started with taking vitamin d, fish oil, calcium tablets every day and drinking spearmint tea (when I can) twice a day. Hoping this helps me regulate my period without birth control and reduce my hirsutism (which is the thing that annoys me the most) :)

I am not sure why you are taking calcium? Maybe I am missing something? Usually most of population has way too much calcium and is missing potassium and magnesium so I am curios. Apart from that the supplement regimen looks great but one word of warning: if you will still be mentally or physically stressed, or will have a bad diet supplements will do nothing. They are just a slight boost to lifestyle. So focus on lifestyle first sleep well, eat well, try not to stress (I know easier said than done 😅) and then hope for supplements. Otherwise it's like eating a huge cake after the salad :D Sure its better than no salad at all . But salad will have real chance to work without cake :D

I am sorry for the late answer yes going low carb or keto can help for sure if your problem is insulin resistance that causes high testosterone and DHT. If its adrenal androgens then adaptogenic herbs rest and destress should help!

Actually I might have a separate video about overall skin problems which will include all of the below. Check those ones for now. I noticed that going keto cleared my skin completely. Out of it for a month now and my skin is horrendous.... So definitely look into your insulin resistance and adressing your diet. Gaining weight around stomach area can mean few things like high cortisol for example. If the problems started with spironolactone it would be worth talking to your doctor about it and make some more blood tests. Sorry, wish I could help more ❤️

How do you feel about soy? I recently read about how it could lower androgens and testosterone after thinking it’s a big No. How do you feel about it

If I'm completely honest I would avoid it. I just read an article now checking this and it seems like man who eat a lot of soy can develop breast tissue. And what does it tell us? What we already know about soy that it raises Estrogen in the body. So yes testosterone may be lowered due to the fact that the estrogen levels are higher. It's kind of like the pill works. However, we with PCOS do not want to have to high Estrogen naturally because it can cause other areas of problems. I would compare this solution to old joke hit your leg so your head doesn't hurt. Works? works but really just covers the problem doesn't it ? :D

It could be. It might be more complicated but Spironolactone is influencing your hormones to it can have cascading effect. Contact your doctor who prescribed you the medication as soon as you can. 🤗

Hey there first, I was out on put on spironolactone for cystic acne. I have been on it since 12/29/22 and stopped taking it yesterday 9/30/23. For the past 4-5 months or so I have been experiencing severe swelling in my feet and legs and also a major increase in weight gain. I am 5’8 and went from weighing 176 lbs to 202 lbs. this has affected my mental health so much. I also work from home so I thought the swelling could be from that too at first but then it just increased and got even worse. I’m also constipated, and was prior due to some pain medication I was put on so it’s just gotten so much worse. My acne however has gotten better. I also have seen blood in my stool but thought that was from the pushing with the Constipation. Then my feet were getting these really bad Charlie horses. I got blood work done recently and my potassium was actually low. Has anyone else experienced these side effects or shed some light on why this may have happen. Thank you all for any help/information !!

Late to the post! These are my exact symptoms. I started Spiralactone about 1 month ago. My body feels so swollen all the time. I also have seen a significant weight gain of about 10 pounds I literally watch my diet and walk at least 8k steps a day. I hope stopping the meds will reverse this!

I’m so mad. I am trying to build muscle and realized this is counterintuitive

I have been on spironolactone for only a little over 2 months and I do not feel well lately. I have been having stomach issues etc. but now week ago I developed extreme nausea and very bad metallic taste in my mouth which is very scary. I’m going to see the dermatologist in 4 days and he will most likely refer me for a blood work. After I started feeling really bad I stopped the medication as I’m worried about the kidney.

@@asmashah981 unfortunately I’m still not feeling well. I’m not sure that medication is the reason for it or maybe it is something else that’s going on. Will have to get checked. As I have lots of pain now in the lower right side of my back :(

@@annaszczesna6310 hopefully it's something minor and it's good that your going to see a dr. Id think that it would go away within a week. But my dr. informed me that an upset stomach is highly unlikely to happen. and I was on it for 4-5 months.

@@asmashah981 I got the blood work done and doctor called me all is fine. Within norms so idk what was going on. In my opinion sometimes we are so sensitive to certain chemicals that blood may not show right away??

i am very very dizzy on this medication i experience vertigo a lot

I wanted spironolactone for my hairloss /thining,but the general practitioner does't want to give it to me,she sais it s not related and dangerous, can cause what U said kidney failure etc ...I will try spearmin tea , and continue the ashwaganda,hair multi vit,sea collagen, vit D and what I do in the hopes it'll grow back to what it was. In any case, I wanted to test my blood again too see if Ferritin raised in the last 3 months after taking Heme Iron(was only 45 and for hair gain must be above 100). If you know what else to test among Ferritin, Tsh t3 t4,testosteron and Dhea-s,please let me know, I really appriciate it.

Spironolactone can cause all over hormonal imbalance because hormones influence each other. However it is only my guess! So please ask your doctor!

@@sophiamekhael3620 mine was light and pinkish. I used to have my periods in every 32 days or so. After starting to take spiro, my periods drifted apart. I started to have them like every 35 days. And it shortened the time too. They used to last for 5-6 days before spiro. After spiro, it was just 3-4 days. And between my 35 days apart periods, I started to have pink spottings. It was a mess. I did not want to sacrifice my own natural cycle so I stopped taking it. It was very unfortunate because spiro was tolerated well by my body. And it cured my hair loss. My body hair became thinner and thinner. My oily forehead was gone. Now I have to figure it out all by myself again :(

I’m on 100 mg spironolactone for more than 1 1/2 years for my acne...I never knew about these huge side effects but know everything makes sense for me. My mouth is always dry, i got less of red platelets, i lost my period for more than three months etc. I always thought I have to much androgen and that’s why I’m taking it but now you’re telling me that this side effect doesn’t make sense if i really have to much androgen. I’m so confused right now and i have no idea what to do. I mean...my skin got better but not totally clear and the improvement can also be caused by my healthy lifestyle I changed to. What do you think...should i stop taking it?

If you have all these side effects make sure you talk to your health provider and address them. I cannot recommend you to quit medication since I am not a doctor and I don't have a full picture on your health profile. But bring those side effects to them and ask what they say. Loss of period for a long time ( is not great for you either so I am sure they will come up with some solution.

Hey I`m transgender (mtf - male to female) and wanted to start spironolactone as my anti androgen pill first because i have acne second because i found that this might be more gentle for my body than androcur (Cyproteronacetat) will the breast growth still be a problem and should i still consult my doctor?

I got put on it for hair loss , byt git way more haur loss put on it. Greying of the hair. Thyroid problem & now PCOS . Dont think i had sny of this until i git put on it. I csne off and list even mire hair , started getting hair mn my body i never had. More facial hair and teeth & gum problems. I wish i never went on it, because I'm worser off. My period suffered too. And my mental health got worse. I dont like going out anymore and get suicidal 😢
