SPIRITUAL GROWTH | Avoid These 2 Things
Matthew 6:28 (KJV) And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
A. Jesus compares Spiritual Growth to the growth of a Lily
B. Lilies grow by avoiding 2 things, the first is Toil
C. Toil means to labor, feel fatigue, and be wearied; Lilies don’t do any of these things
D. Believers will not grow spiritually if they do not allow their faith and God’s grace to be their laborer
E. Believers will grow spiritually when they avoid toiling
F. The second thing a lily avoids is Spinning, meaning Lilies don’t turn to face the sun, like Heliotrope flowers
G. Lilies don’t face the sun because they don’t provide for themselves
H. Lilies depend on God to be their provider, not God’s creation
I. Spiritual Grow happens when we stop trying to be our own providers
