"So we have failed to get our fairy in a bottle value. Is basically... This this entire act has been an entire failure. Feels bad." That's such a Jorbs thing to say and I love it.
"Next turn's often a long way away" I love when Jorbs almost gets poetic about STS

I'm only 45 minutes in and this is such amazing content. Seeing LSV's understanding widen as he gets a taste of Jorbs in not quite OverExplainMode is incredible. They both have such similar frames of reference and shared terminology, that they're communicating so well throughout. Haven't seen any LSV playing Spire before but he clearly hasn't been playing cards blindly (as much as he'd like to humbly claim), he's been subscribing to a Total Value philosophy and having fun with that approach. Jorbs is introducing him to a larger set of considerations and many more levels of depth, and LSV can follow the logic in step with Jorbs' actual pace of breaking down a set of decisions. It's a lot at once, just due to the raw amount of reference information LSV hadn't considered. But he knows when to take on a new perspective, and when to just recognize the rabbit hole and move on. I'd really like to see this as a recurring show, maybe once a month or whenever. I know LSV would enjoy climbing ascensions, and your communities seem to have a lot of overlap already. I think both communities would get a huge kick out of seeing LSV grapple with mid ascension levels, which is where most of the player base is anyway. And Jorbs would get to watch lower Ascension stuff for the first time in who knows how long. tl;dr LSVpoj

This comment articulates a lot of my thoughts and praise for this video. LSV Is in such good lock-step with jorb's explanations that every time Jorbs opens him up to new decision making considerations he's right there with it understanding why something new is important. LSV Is also very good at moving on a making a decision which keeps the pace flowing and the conversation moving, and makes them so much fun to watch!

Spire is a little different in that you face multiple battles but everything is cumulative and incremental. Drafting a deck all at once that beats the Heart would be different from how you actually get to play the game, but to my knowledge, is closer to how MTG works (though I guess you get to deny whatever you pick to the other player(s)?).
@rizzzou

LSV is playing exactly how I played when I first started and I'm guessing how most mtg players start; making decisions to build the "best deck". What you learn at higher ascensions is it is more about building just enough to deal with current challenges and preparing to build enough to beat future challenges at the same time.
Storm of steel + after image... LSV drafting storm even in slay the spire lol

Not gonna lie, the impeccable cliffhanger timing of the previous upload definitely added to the ending.

At first I thought Jorbs intentionally cut the video there out of sheer facepalm
1:56:50 Jorbs: Don't play too many cards, you're taking 1 damage every time. In other words: Please just press E twice and win, everything else might kill you.
Incredible content. Really enjoyed hearing someone who thinks deeply about the game teach a very competent newbie - makes for really interesting questions and answers on both sides. Would definitely promote this as a series/collaboration to continue. Great job both!
That mystical teachings analogy was perfect. I cant count the number of times ive played slay or magic for that manner and lost from what seemed like out of nowhere only to realize i couldve changed something earlier.
It’s so insane how those incredibly small details can completely improve your gameplay, for example the RNG behind rates and the scaling drop chance, I never knew that until now but it’s so valuable to know that though, it’s something that I’m definitely going to think about in my next runs
I would also love some LSV coaching jorbs in magic

LSV is my favorite magic player by far. He has such passion for the game, communicates extremely well, plays at the absolute top level and is freaking hilarious. His vintage cubes are must watch content.
Came for LSV, but I think I'll look at some other videos here too.

I love how Jorbs says Snecko Eye doesn't really add variance, but then LSV gets some very expensive hands back to back just to naysay him. Sneko giveth, Snecko taketh away.
@bobbysnobby
4 жыл бұрын
It adds cost variance but reduces draw variance. Jorbs likes silver bullet decks with tools for the fights he is afraid of, so any deck which reduces draw variance increases the occurrence of those silver bullet cards in the fights he wants them in. He has a very good winrate and his style might be the best, but we dont know for sure and snecko eye is bad in some styles of decks, decks he would very rarely make things like OTK discard decks, or combo shiv decks. They are unreliable strategies but are exceptionally powerful. So for the style of decks he likes, and styles of play which are better for the win% on the average snecko reduces variance even with the mana costs randomized.
This was some of the highest level slay content with the lowest floor to understand; impressive to see a master of one game helping a master of another game
It's funny how LSV calls Slay the Spire just Slay because everyone calls Magic: the Gathering just Magic.

Slay: the Spire
Seeing you coach someone who can probably grasp concepts easily is very enjoyable. Doing a coach for close to a20 but not quite could probably be very helpful. A18 to A19-A20 could help people see how to see better lines, when you do it all it's already obvious what the 'best' play is.
When I was watching the original upload, it just cut off all of a sudden and said the video was unavailable. First time that's ever happened to me. Glad it's back up and apparently fixed, although I didn't make it far enough to see that anything was missing.
Really enjoyed this content. I’m new to STS and ran Silent through for the first time recently. Landed a Discard benefit relic followed by another and ended up building a gambling deck that kept discarding all the cantrips. Then the extra damage for 0 costs relic sealed the deal. Great to see different takes and hear strategy discussed.
This was a great stream. Thanks for doing this. I have been teaching Slay the Spire to some friends and this is exactly the right process to go through: let them do mistakes, allow them to have fun, but provide insight and guidance so they can feel powerful. Hats off, Jorbs!
I love LSV and both rank him one of the best MtG players of all time and my favorite MtG streamer... though it's really incredible how he has become so good at MtG with the impatience he shows in playing his cards here XD.
Thanks for adding the ending.
It's so funny to watch jorbs try to give answers to really complex and broad questions when LSV is thinking much simpler because he's still A0 and very casual
Two of my favorite content creators in the same video? Yes please, do this all the time forever.
I'm sad a1 didn't involve the philosopher's stone so jorbs could explain how that relic 1000% of the time makes all of the starting a2 fights birbs.
Watching this is amazing. I love the analysis. I've played several hundred hours in this game and have a 1/14 win chance, my highest ascension is 8. Really appreciate learning from this.

This was an awesome video. LSV and Jorbs was a crossover I never expected and I'd love to see more.
The only 2 gamers I watch these days are LSV and Jorbs so I'm not surprised you two found each other :D Oh I just remembered caleb gannon too Anyways :D
1:58:00 so true - after nearly 500 hours I JUST realized I could play an artifact potion after using a temporary strength/dexterity/focus up card to negate the 'removal' debuff. Took me way to long to realize it was considered a negative effect. In retrospect, it's so simple and makes perfect sense. Actually made me excited to get back into grinding again, to see what other tech I haven't found yet.
this was amazing, would LOVE to see this type of content more
Loved this! Thank you guys!
Finally, i can watch the uncut version. Thanks jowbs
First time watching any of your content and I think its really interesting, might get me to play slay the spire for the first time in over a year
Crazy good insight 😂 been playing this by myself, and found my first advise! Mind blown.

This just sounds like jorbs playing the spire with extra steps
This is going to be awesome! Edit after watching: That WAS awesome!
2 unlocks remaining lmao its like if lsv was coaching me in legacy while i played a budget build of ant where i couldnt afford tendrils

At some point their discussion goes to how jorbs did at a past PT or GP. So pretty sure he has already played plenty in the past.
This is the kind of thing that makes me question if I wanna continue playing some game. The whole: "if you do this now you have this percentage for that and if you do that you have this percentage for this so you should take question mark over fight". And I'm sitting here with open mouth and wondering if I don't want to learn all of this if I should continue to play this game. I'm currently on ascension 4 and I just want to slay some spire man, not to graduate from rocket science :D

The charm about this game is that you can play it casually or seriously and it will both work. I beat ascen 20 on almost all characters while playing very casually and not planning that much
Yeah, Jorbs has been playing for a 60% chance of winning at A20, which is conceptually different from playing for a 98% chance on A1. The 60% strategy for A20 might only be an 85% strategy for A1, so it has to be really awkward to adapt here.
@necronomics1804

What’s the context on these percentage values?
@mtaur4113
Жыл бұрын
@@necronomics1804 Rough informal estimates. Jorbs' theoretical A0 heart winrate is not something we're likely to estimate with a large sample anytime soon.
Slay the Spire is such a good game. I have at least 500 hours between Steam and Switch. Makes perfect sense that this would be something that LSV is great at
You know you're watching LSV when he still finds a way to play a storm deck even in Slay the Spire cray props for making that card usable even in A1
oh my god im so excited to watch this
Two great streams that stream great together.
Best video ever straight up
43:08 is 💯
whuuut the guy in the top is LSV? :O Haven't followed him in ~5 years and boooy his appearance has changed :O
Just a couple of solid content creators making some solid content
1:57:36 Jorbs' reaction was funny lel
me: "Man, some of these picks are weird, they must be out of their mind. Even meme pick aside..." they: Heart kill... also me: *struggles at Ascension 1*
Jorbs is certainly Jorbsing here.
The The crossover crossover I I didn't didn't know know I I needed needed
Great content.
So hype
2 of my favorite content creators collaborating. Sign me up.
lsv still plays storm even in Slay the Spire...
So I often hear about this lsv guy from goldfish. Who is supposed to be one of the best magic players right now. It took me until 30 mins in to the video to make this connection.
Didn't LSV have enough gold left in that act 2 shop to buy Accuracy, which would have buffed not only his 3 starting shivs, but all the ones from Storm of Steel?
Mr. Peanutbutter: Is this a crossover episode?!
No Frickin Way!
Was thinking that there could be multiplayer for StS. Maybe play side by side with same character on same map layout for point total with a timer? With your knowledge and influence...
He did pretty okay though he did ignore a lot of the passive advice given so there's a not to let sink in!
still love it!
two legends meet :o
Love the "Like Trans" T-shirt. Also enjoying these runs with a little more explaining. I really enjoyed Over Explained Runs but this here seems like just the right level for me. Not too long winded but with some great insights made explicit
would love to see jorbz on the design team for eternal tbh
oh, this time with 23 min more content. Nice
This is incredible.... two of the three people I've watched the most on youtube.
Be still my beating heart. They are discussing monster train. Please do monster train.
I was scared he might die on the last act after how the awakened one fight went, right up till the end. Especially when he accidentally skipped the duplication potion.

LSV and Jorbs together? My dream come true.
Silent is just a ridiculous class sometimes though, all you need is some poison and an upgraded Catalyst and maybe a wraith form and it’s just a win all run
