Spike Milligan's 70th Birthday on Wogan
Комедия
Very funny chat show appearance by Spike Milligan, where he is reunited with some of his old War War II colleagues to celebrate his 70th birthday on Terry Wogan's chat show in 1988. Includes surprise guest at the end.
Apologies for the quality of the footage, but I thought comedy fans would like to see it.

Wogan-"You all stayed together during the War which is extraordinary really"- quick as a flash interrupted by Spike, "Well we were on the same side, you see." Loved him. Such a quick wit. Sorely missed.
Watching during 2020 lockdown. When they hug at the start he says , we've all got it now, Spike would have loved the irony.

TheMrgaztop I hope he’s resting well now, he was a tormented soul but a source of much laughter.
I remember watching this on my 12th birthday (same day as Spike), I'd cracked my head open 2 days before and one of the stitches tore out cos I was laughing so much. Thanks for the memories Spike.
Here in America, it wasn't so very long ago that I heard the name Spike Milligan for the first time. Since then, he's made me laugh myself silly. How, oh how, did we ever miss this one? He is the Shakespeare of Comedy!!!!

Good old Spike Milligan and VHS tapes. They were great. They had character.
Those were real heart felt hugs at the very beginning.

@Paul Williams, Spike’s father was Irish, and Spike was an Irish citizen. In an interview he called himself Irish. Many many Irishmen died in Britain uniform, and I’m not aware of any doing that for Hitler or Mussolini.
Real wit and comedy. Shared humanity. Excellent.
Spike one of the thru greats all of these great comedy days last forever 🤣
sharp as a razor, bloody hilarious he`s a producer`s nightmare. Says whatever he likes.
He seems so happy here which wasn't always the case. Bless him, he's from my Grandads generation and reading Spikes war diaries bought me closer to him than anything else. Not a perfect man by any means but Ive loved him ever since I first read puckoon.
i CAN'T IMAGINE HOW i MISSED THIS---PROBABLY WORKING, BUT WHAT A 'UNIQUE'? TRIBUTE BY THE BBC, I'VE NEVER SEEN OR HEARD OF SUCH AN AFFECTIONATE TRIBUTE BEFORE BY THEM.--AND AN ACTUAL BOTTLE OF WINE TOO.
Timeless and wonderful, just finished reading his secretary’s memoir. He did so much for charitable causes as well. Milligan’s Ark in aid of the WWF is worth buying

I remember watching this when I was 10 years old and had just cracked my head open. Had to go and have it restitched the next day because I'd laughed too much.
"Now, we've all caught it..." Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahah!
Love it.
Never got a big head,Spike was always just as you saw him.
Legend.
Brilliant !! :-D .x.
What's your number? I think it's "Up"! I might have thought of that one-liner .... about 24 hours later. Spike needed half a second. What a guy. So very sorely missed.
Only a fool would have tried to match wits with Spike.
From what I've read in Spike's books (jollied up though they may be), I'm surprised by how reserved and quiet these blokes are.

Spike not Wogan !
There was another time where he appeared on Wogan (I think Joanna Lumley was standing in at the time) and he said to some one in the audience 'Come and see me after the show and I will personally ......... kick the shit out of you.'
