Spike Lee on DO THE RIGHT THING | TIFF 2019

Фильм және анимация

Oscar-winning filmmaker Spike Lee joins us in person to celebrate the legacy and enduring political relevance of his Bed-Stuy classic 30 years after the film's initial release with a screening of a brand new 4K digital restoration.

I never get the feeling with Spike that he really brings people together, but rather wants to create something that is against the white and that we blacks can be proud of. Build bridges instead of walls - Spike will never learn that.

No they didn’t. All Asians have a culture of hard work and entrepreneurship. To them, owning a small business is almost a religion. I’m an immigrant and it baffles me to see homeless Americans of all colors. You guys have all of the advantages and opportunities that we never had and somehow you still struggle to survive. Americans are lazy and they all think they will win the lottery.

I always thought that Radio Raheem brought a lot of his demise on his self. The truth is that he was a jerk. He would go into the restaurant blasting his boom box as if he was entitled to do this, and by him being reluctant to at least turn it down was inconsiderate. Sal just lost his patience and became so frustrated (who wouldn't?) that he lost it and destroyed the boom box. Was he wrong? Maybe, but Radio was just as wrong.
