the reason you kept getting hit by comets, is that the 4 tile comets only target land tiles. and you were the only one with land tiles.

@@MrTaucher007 The cities still count as land tiles despite flooding, it's the surrounding land that gets eliminated. As such they could lose cities to direct hits, but as Spiff had much more land than they did he ate the vast majority of meteors.

@@MrTaucher007 there's two types of comets. there's one that only targets cities and destroys only one tile, those can hit even flooded cities. then there's ones that can target any 4 tile land area, they can destroy cities if they happen to hit the tile, but don't target them, and they only target land areas that have the 4 tiles in the right shape. so all of the second kind of comet targeted him, which meant that even though they don't target cities directly, they ended up incidentally destroying all his cities anyway

I thought the game was deliberately punishing Spiff for destroying the environment but no, it turns out comets just target land tiles and only Spiff had cities above water.

A multiplayer game of this would be a riot. Please make it happen.

Today we discovered that flooded tiles don't seem to get struck by meteors. Ironically by protecting yourself from the sea, you doomed yourself to an unending rain of hellfire.

Gotta say, I do love episodes like this. As much as I love watching the Spiffing Brit be smug and break games in half, it's also satisfying to watch him foisted on his own hubris. It's like the rare times we got a Looney Tunes cartoon where Bugs Bunny meets a worthy opponent, and he finally gets a taste of his own medicine.

I love that after so many episodes of Spiff breaking Civ 6, this time is Civ 6 breaking Spiff lol

i feel the Mauri would be OP in this game mode >start in the ocean >watch as everyone else is set on fire, flooded and hit by big space rocks >your capital is just 2 guys and a camel on a boat

I was listening to spotify while watching this and at the end "I don't want to set the world on fire" started playing i literally burst into tears from laughing

That strategy about rushing flood barriers while also having an insane amount of carbon emissions is how I play Civilization with my friends. None of my friends are willing to settle near the coasts now.

I would LOVE to see this as a giant multiplayer experience. This was hilarious. Thanks ever so for sharing. :)

This needs multiplayer livestream and a drinking game tacked on for every unit lost to a disaster. It would be madness and it’d be the best stream known to man.
