Spies of the Cold War - The Spying Game, Pt. 1 - Full Historical Documentary

Ойын-сауық

The Cold War was the battleground for thousands of spies and spotters. Even the Allied Military Missions in Germany doubled as covert observers in the spying game. Whether military observers, spies, or traitors - they all acted as suppliers of intelligence for their masters in Washington or Moscow. Yet, did the spying game really help keep the Cold War cold?

    The U.S. Navy had it's own version of the Air Force RB-66 and it was called the A-3 Skywarrior. One of the main differences between them was that the RB-66 had ejection seats but the A-3 did not. I was in a Navy aviation squadron from 1971-75 and among other jets, we had four of the A-3 Skywarriors which had the designation ERA-3B. The squadron was an ECM...Electronic Counter-Measures....outfit and all of our jets had different kinds of electronic countermeasures gear on/in them. Our A-3's had the chaff dispensers that was talked about in this video, along with other jamming pods. Occasionally, one of the cardboard boxes that held chaff would get torn open and millions of little strands of silvery aluminum went everywhere. What a mess to clean up..!! I thought it was exciting being in that squadron and taking care of our jets, knowing that we had a lot of top secret equipment in the planes. And also, occasionally, we would have to scramble and quickly get all of our planes inside the hangar and close the doors because a Russian satellite was coming over. Cloak & dagger stuff....fun..!!

    Fun. The causes of a lot of deaths to mothers, fathers, children, grandchildren, uncles, aunts, etc. When will men and politicians stop? Since we've been told we're extinct from genetic plastics poisoning, shouldn't be long. Once all men have killed all people. They'll finally have peace ✌️

    Clicked on this when I saw my father's old Navy(coverted) bomber A3BQ pictured in the KZread Window. As a child in the 60's, he a retired Navy Civilian flew from a tiny island in the Aleutian Chain and in Pakistan playing games with the Russians. He NEVER spoke about what he was doing, but did come home with photos of Russian Migs, whose pilots they almost knew on a first name basis; two along side, one behined(with heat seaking missiles.) Sadly, that's why I always knew it was a "croc of sh##" when the Russians shot down the Korean 747, claiming they COULDN'T KNOW IT WAS A CIVILIAN AIRCRAFT...rr Normandy, Fra

    Superb documentary! I love it! Just one tiny error: the SA-6 is a surface to air missile, not air to ground!

  • @Bravo-Too-Much

    @Bravo-Too-Much

    Not true. SA missile classifications mean air to ground and AG means surface to air. They were cleverly named, so they thought, to represent the opposite of what they actually were as another way of misleading the enemy. Coincidentally, both the US and Soviets did this and neither fell for it but continued to do it. At least that’s the story I just made up.

    👊👊👊 49,00 Honderds years ago the leader or the kings at the time of war were marching themselves front of army and they involved directly with the consequences of their decisions to go to the war, and they could get killed from the result of that war! But these days the leaders sitting comfort at their bureaus and bring the nation to the war without any direct involvement on the battle ground! Their childeren also just benefiting from the wealth and opportunities from their parents and they never show their patriotism in the battle ground! Maybe if those leaders directly involvement met those wars which they order, then we have more peace in our world, because of the safety of their asses, they will think twice before ordering to attack to other nations!

    Only on very few occasions was a king dumb enough to be on the Frontline, if killed, discipline breaks down and theirs Noone to make crucial decisions until someone else takes over. Not being close to the battle doesn't mean they don't have a dog in the fight. Leading an army isn't the same as Frontline fighting. Try reading some time instead of complaining about things you obviously don't understand

    And that's not what makes peace, you refuse to stand tall with a strong army, and another nation will just conquer you. Your dream there, would lead to essentially one dictator ruling the entire world. Try reciting your little speech to someone like Hitler and see how peaceful the world would be, you'd probably be a slave by now in a work camp. Grow up

    The pain on Kelley's face and the sorrow in his voice are palpable. If this warrior still shoulders the emotional deadweight, what have we done for all recent veterans ? Is there concern for their well-being once the rifles are handed back ?
