I think Mysterio counts as a twist villain, not because he was set up as a good guy at the start, but because he got me believing it despite the fact that I knew that he was a villain in the comics.

That happened to me with Hans in Frozen. I wasn't really interested in the movie so I glanced through a movie adaptation book and saw he was evil. Then during the movie I was like "man he's way too likeable, they can't possibly make him the bad guy. Maybe it's like Elsa where she was going to originally be evil but they changed it" and then NOPE

I think the Skrulls were included because this movie would not work if Fury was actually Fury. Not only would he have called Mysterio’s bullshit far sooner, but he also would’ve called in other Avengers if he even did believe Mysterio for some reason. Fury needed to be dumbed down and stripped of his resources, and this was a great way to do it without actually affecting the real Fury.

I honestly thought it felt lazy and was lame that they had the audience believe we were getting moments with Fury and Hill when we actually weren't. An alternate subtitle for this movie is 'Peter Parker is in constant agony for 2 hours and 10 minutes'. They were relentless, god damn. Almost every scene had Iron Man mementos, he kept getting overwhelmed by the crowds, all of his advances to get with MJ were shut down, he kept getting dragged down by both Talos disguised as Fury AND Mysterio and kept failing or playing a minor part in all of the conflicts, was psychologically tortured with the nightmare illusion sequence, steamrolled by a train, beat to all hell during the drone battle, backstabbed by the one person he trusted in this newly chaotic world, then outed to the entire world by that same person. There was maybe, like, 5 minutes of Peter *_not_* being put through some kind of pain. Not that it's a bad thing- it made the climax steeper and more important and really gave a triumphant thrill when he finally won.

Infinity War: *Ends with the heroes losing* Far From Home: *Ends with Peter losing to the villain in the long run* (Ok I know it was a mid credit scene, but it took place directly after the ending, so I count it) Seriously, this movie is Infinity War level writing. The acting, the characterization, the constant fear for the protagonist is just down right flawless. This movie is a breather from Endgame, but it makes you never feel like it's over for Peter, one of the closest people to Tony. Also, you know a movie is written almost perfectly when the plot twist you saw coming still surprised you

They even fucking brought J.K. Simmons back to be JJJ and with him being the one to release the footage, i could totally see this JJJ funding the experimental technology to create Scorpion while believing he's doing the right thing to help take down a supposed villain. 2) the second way i can see it going is Kraven the Hunter learning of Spider-man from the news, seeing his power and supposed villainy, and deciding to be the one to try to take Spidey down. either way i'd be extremely happy for and its so nicely set up for them both too

the experience where peter finds out about mysterio, and confronts him, is one of my favorite scenes in the movie. It shows full well what mysterio's powers are, and peter's insecurities about himself. It deals with him losing MJ and all his friends, not living up to what tony wanted him to be, and not being good enough, just a kid from queens who can't do anything. And when mysterio tricks him, and peter reveals where everyone is, and who knows about mysterio's real identity, and peter realizing that he's gonna kill them, it hits like a truck, or for peter, a train. mysterio won, he beat peter, and he's gonna end it. The final fight shows peter fighting those insecurities, it's also a good representation of spider sense, with him literally dodging bullets with his eyes closed. but mysterio gets the last laugh, revealing his identity, and framing him as the villain. I also think it's pretty funny that edith, which mysterio has for most of the movie, means even dead im the hero, as everyone really thinks that mysterio is the hero of the story, that he destroyed the elementals, and the peter killed him so he could take the glory for himself.

Schaff please tell me you noticed the subtle spider-man 3 reference when the guy on the comms says to mysterio "it's probably a bird it'll just fly away" when Peter jumps into the tornado, I feel like no one is talking about this line

FFH was the best Iron Man ghost movie. He really stole the show, like the whole movie. Peter and Spidey played good support roles. I hope we can see more of them in the next Iron Ghost film.

It's not a real MCU movie without a topless shot of the hero at some point. And no, there's no MCU movie without topless dudes. It's just that sometimes, Drax stood too still.
