I agree for the most part. Emma and Mel C were the most vocally talented, with the most range, and thus got more solos than the others. Mel B may have been a little more talented than Geri? Hard call. Victoria obv had a more flat voice, but nonetheless provided a good contrast and still got some solo lines. That was nice, it wasn't like Destinys Child which was basically Beyonce with backup singers, or S Club 7 which was all that one blonde.

My childhood will never be the same without The spice girls, Christina Aguilera, Britney, Nsynch, Backstreet boys, Boyzone and Westlife😍😍😍

90s / 00s / 10s and 20s.... Still LOVE the Spice Girls!!!!

Spice Girls set the bar high when it comes to girl groups. They are still the best selling girl group of all time 20 years later. Only girl group to have 5 tracks in the top 5 of billboards 100 charts. And 2 albums in top 3 of billboard 200 at the sametime.

The best selling girl group may not fully be accurate. The Supremes likely sold over 100 million but because Motown didn’t report to RCAA until the late 70s, their official sales are not fully known. Basing off their record and album sales and chartings in the 60s and 70s and what Motown internally reported out (60 million by 1972), the Supremes likely hold the title as best selling.

@@bradleyscarton3931 The Supremes weren't considered a "girl group" Barry Gordy didn't promote them that way. There was ONE front singer, as we know Diana Ross. By definition of Girl Group, The Supremes don't fit.

@@petrinajc They are the definitive girl group - the most successful. Diana was the lead singer, but like most vocal groups of the era, there was always a designated lead (Martha Reeves, Ronnie Spector, Gladys Horton, Levi Stubbs, etc). During the height of the girl groups in the early 60s, you didn't see a group where everyone sang lead. It wouldn't be for a several decades that you began to see songs like this where everyone took a line to sing. As for the Supremes, it wasn't until 1967 that Gordy set into motion the plans to seperate Diana from the rest of the group to build her up for her inevitable departure in 1970 by changing the name of the group from the Supremes to Diana Ross & the Supremes. But up to the summer of 1967, they had already racked up 10 number one hits by simply being The Supremes (Diana on lead, Mary & Florence harmonizing on background vocals).

It's so overwhelming how many original songs Spice Girls accumulated during the years. 'Stop' is on of those which will never leave heads and hearts of people growing up in 90s

It's 2024 already. I think it's safe to say we will be listening to the Spice girls until we die.

I wouldn't consider myself a Spice Girls fan, but this was on the radio today and I was able to identify who was singing at each part. Came to check and I was right with them all. Always a good thing for a group when their voices are individually recognisable. Forgot just how good they all looked back then too. And the most surprising bit when listening to this was, I knew almost all the words.

Mel C,as always,just owns this song. Truly the Voice.

This song was "old" to begin with. That's why it's so clever. It's just updated Motown. Decades before Diana Ross and the Supremes would of performed this. It's timeless.
