The item at 2:50 is a fly swatter holder! My parents had one back in the 70's. It hangs on the wall and you put the handle in from the top & it slides down into it! The swatters had wood handles that matched the front of the holder ... ours was never used, just for decor!! Hadn't seen one in years!

We get them in to our church sales all the time. Sadly, we are lucky if we can even get a dollar for them. People do not seem to want someone else's cross stitch or needlework projects, and the young adults of today who are setting up housekeeping (boy that's an old term) aren't usually into that. I suppose it will be popular again in the future. Seems to be cycles of popularity, like roller skating rinks and bowling alleys!

I have quite a few beautiful crewel pieces but I picked up a large framed cross stitched landscape the other day at the bins. It is pristine, except a nick out of the frame. I’ll probably paint it, and it will be fine. I’m so glad to know that perhaps someone will want to buy it. I thought the same thing as you. I wanted to save it because of the amount of work that went into it.

Judy, cross-stitch is a series of X stitches done on cross-stitch fabric of various types like hardanger cloth. The fabric has to be very evenly woven with fairly widely spaced threads, usually 10 - 14 threads per inch. Most cross stitch fabric does not have a pattern printed on it but instead has a separate paper pattern. "Embroidery" and specialized embroidery like "crewel" or "bargello" is usually done on fabric that is tighter woven like sheeting with a pattern printed on it.

The moon cross stitch clock is termed, “primitive” in design, (not age.) That’s the keyword you’ll want to use when listing. Primitive cross stitch designs are in high fashion right now. Enjoying the content! Also, that amount of the padded medallions give the vibe of being kits, maybe localized to an area. I bet you anything, you have the designers collection. You can tell by the finishing style of course but also by the repeated use of the same font. Those are mockups for craft fairs and such. I bet her husband cut the fun frames or something and she sold the patterns with the unfinished frames. The other pieces you found are probably the rest of her personal collection, all 80’s or 90’s, except for that moon clock. That one is very different from the others and may just be coincidence that it’s there. I’d be surprised if it was older than 2010, but I’m certainly no expert.😄

Jocelyn, I really appreciate you seeing the value of the cross-stitch pieces! They take hours of handwork, special painting the frames, and finding the perfect frame. They are definitely intense labor of love for cross-stitchers!! Thank you for valuing this folk art craft!!

I love how your Mom helps and is so involved in your business. I love how kind and giving you are to your Mom. Telling her to take any piece of artwork that she wants. A many as she wants. This just shows the depth of the love you and your Mom share. I lost my parents at an early age. So I am beyond happy for the both of you. * I truly enjoy watching these videos. You are totally authentic and I liked that. God Bless You 🙂 Love it!

What a haul on the nifty crafty cross-stitch and embroidery pieces Joce. You really made out like a bandit on this one. Tho I would have loved to have had that wooden painted covered bridge piece you didn't get. I just love rustic handmade pieces like that and have decorated my studio with as many of them as I could find. They bring such a country cozy feeling to the decor and go so well with my vintage and antique quilt collection. Thanks a bunch for sharing! Have a great day!

That was fun! I'm so glad you got the cross stitch pieces. Those were so cool. The woodwork around them made them all the more special. I don't have family so I've wondered what will become of my craftwork when I pass on. Don't guess it matters, but I hope someone finds it who gets excited about the work that went into it and doesn't just throw it away, so this video made me happy.

The counted cross stitch pieces are all so beautiful!! It is very time consuming and take alot of patience. Most of those wooden pieces were probably cut out in someone's garage. She/He did great work!! Thank you for recognizing that. Were it not for bad eyes and hands, I would still be stitching. I loved doing it. Thanks Joce for all you do!!❤
