Spending 16+hrs in an Ultra-Spacious Suite on a Japanese Ferry to Hokkaido

I'm taking Shin Nihonkai Ferry from Niigata to Otaru (Hokkaido). I booked the largest cabin on the ship. This route allows you to arrive in Hokkaido early in the morning.

The room looked amazing, as did the food, but as someone with a seafood allergy, I couldn't have eaten a lot of what you get served. End the mystery! What is Miso soup? Usually it appears to be a light broth with some green onions floating on top. Other times there are ingredients that sink to the bottom. What qualifies a soup as miso? 🇺🇲 greetings from Chicago, Illinois USA

  • @annettefournier9655

    @annettefournier9655

    Miso is soybean paste made with Koji and rice, that is what is floating in the bottom.the broth is umami rich taste made of seaweed and dried fish but it tastes nothing like either. I hate both those things and love miss soup. The plain type had green onions and tofu cubes. Red miso is a bit richer in flavor.
