After the scorching heat of July and August sets in, the options for outdoor activities narrow down to either going to the beach or swimming in a pool. The refreshing coolness of summer seems to be found only in the mountains. This marks our second trip since the pandemic, and this time, we chose the Da Xue Mountain, a place we had never been before. It's a journey of over 3 hours from home, truly a remote destination.
As mentioned in the video, most people don't enter the forest recreation area itself; instead, they stop by the roadside along the way to enjoy picnics and the mountain's coolness. The Yen-Zui Mountain and Changshou Mountain outside the park also offer excellent hiking trails.
Distances between different spots within the park can be considerable. For instance, it's a 7.5-kilometer, 15-minute drive from the ticket booth to the Little Sacred Tree. There's also a nighttime stargazing activity (weather permitting) - a lovely option, though rain could be a spoiler. If you enjoy walking, I find the environment here quite pleasant.
While the resources on the mountain are indeed precious, they aren't as readily available as those on Tai Ping Mountain or Wuling Farm. So, it's best to keep expectations moderate.
