This is beautifully transporting. If you will just listen and suspend all judgement and comparisons, just listen, you will find that each artist has something to say in each performance that has never been said before. That is the beauty of one piece of music showing it's various facets. Turn each piece as you would gaze upon a diamond and you will see the sparkle that each person adds to it.

Such a beautiful performance of my favorite Scarlatti sonata. Haunting and deep. Thank you, Spencer Myer. I feel I've discovered a kindred fraternity of lovers of K87!

I loved it but I though he didn't leave long enough pauses betwen each segment. Other than that - wonderful!

Oberlin has trained Mr. Myer well. This is one of Scarlatti's most sublime creations. It is truly a gift to all those who come across it, be it to play or absorb. So painful to imagine that he crafted all of these jewels for the obese Spanish queen, Maria Barbara, who surely as a student didn't appreciate their exquisite depth, as she evidently found greater pleasures elsewhere in her court.

What a beautiful rendition. I thought that only Horowitz could play this sonata superbly. I was wrong. I’m sorry I missed your masterclass at Catholic University in DC!

Scarlatti to perfection.

I agree with previous comments. Arguably the most beautiful sonata of D. Scarlatti, performed here to perfection, with melodic lines clearly coming out. For example the second voice from 3:37 (b - c sharp - d - c sharp...). Beautiful.

Splendid. Mr Myer uses the pedal for this baroque sonata, and just for this once I agree. To play the descending and ascending series of fifth chords legato is next to impossible without it.

A moving performance of a truly great sonata. One thing I particularly like about it is that Spencer Myer sticks to the original manuscript score. If I had to pick one note of this sonata for special praise, it would be the A sharp in the tenor of the first beat of bar 22: once you have heard that, A natural feels lifeless, disappointing. Almost uniquely among the performances posted on KZread, Spencer Myer nails it.
I love this soulful interpretation - even more than Horowitz.

Great interpretation with high sensitivity - like Clara Haskil. But alittle bit to slow (for me)

The music has so many layers, the pianists need to separate all of those layers. In order to do that, the pianists need to really concentrate so that they can really hear each layer. One way is to concentrate by looking at something not distracting.

In the end of most of the frazes you are slowing down annecessarily. It is a bit to much for me. Pity, because your playing is magnificent in ather aspects

Yeah, the guy 'breathes' between musical phrases! What an thoroughly unecessary thing to do! A bit more practise with the metronome and he could play more strictly in time- and hence 'better'.
