मैं भी इन चीज़ों को लेकर कोई रूल ढूंढने की कोशिश अपने स्टूडेंट लाइफ में करता रहता था। फिर एक दिन अचानक मेरे जहन में ये विचार आया : *शर्त-1* यदि ei या ie का उच्चारण *"इ "* की तरह हो रहा है तो *नियम-1* ei होगा यदि e से ठीक पहले वाला लेटर e के करीब [इंग्लिश वर्णमाला के अनुसार] होगा जैसे ,receive , conceive में लेटर c लेटर e के करीब है बजाय लेटर i के। अन्य उदहारण : hygiene [इंग्लिश वर्णमाला में g के अधिक निकट i होता है। इसी प्रकार chief , believe , yield , forfeit , beige *नियम-2* ie होगा यदि i से ठीक पहले वाला लेटर i के करीब [इंग्लिश वर्णमाला के अनुसार] होगा बजाय e के जैसे mischief . यहाँ लेटर h लेटर i के ज्यादा करीब है बजाय लेटर e के। *शर्त-2* यदि ei या ie का उच्चारण "ए " या "आई" की तरह हो रहा है तो *नियम-1* उपरोक्त नियम का विपरीत होगा जैसे freight में शब्द का उच्चारण फ्रेट है अतः ei का उच्चारण "ए" की तरह हो रहा है न कि "इ" की तरह इसलिए यहाँ r से e ज्यादा दूर है [इंग्लिश वर्णमाला के अनुसार] बजाये i के। अन्य उदाहरण : neighbour, weight , vein

Pronunciation is different in different region of the world, like pronunciation of a word can be different in UK, EU, India and US english. There are two most renowned accents of english are EN_US and EN_GB. In india we use EN_GB (British accents). Also spelling becomes different accordingly like color/colour.

You are right ma'am. Many of the students and learners make this kind of mistakes because they think English can be learn through Hindi. But I think they have to think in English. English became a mixed language. Many of the words of this language borrowed from different languages of the world. For example the pronunciation of ch in chemistry is different fron the pronunciation of ch in children and it is different again in chevrolet. Now it is very difficult to all of us to predict the correct one. But whatever it is you are good at your teaching technics. I appreciate you.

Dear ma'am, English mein 'R' low sounding syllable kehte hain, tho jab bhi ...tu'r'e tho 'ch' pronounce karte hain... Aur jab koi 'letter' ko Jo jaise pronounce hotha hai vaise usko kisi word mein pronounce karte ho tho usae 'soft sound kehte hain.
