I would say the funniest part was that he spelled business with about 100 letters including 12 Qs in a row.

That was smart. You have to make sure you don't put in too many Qs in a word like "business" that has a long string of 12 Qs in it. It's tough.
Will Forte is rightfully acclaimed for this sketch, but Chris Parnell deserves props for being a terrific straight man to Forte’s antics!

Its a toss up...there were too many and it stopped being funny. But, then there's the joke inside the joke of purposefully taking it too far. Laughing. Crying from laughing. Silence. Crying because it won't stop.
When Jack Black revealed little Daniel was him all along, I was devastated. Emotionally harrowing stuff.
Why can’t every SNL skit be as deliciousy oblique as this?

I'm getting flashbacks to my 3rd grade spelling bee failure... Moderator: The word is "awkward." Me: "Awkward." A.............Q?.........U-E-R-D. AQUERD. Moderator: Incorrect Me, to my dad: Was it the Q? Dad: Among other things, yes.

Had an in-class spelling bee in 5th grade. The word was embarrassed, I spelt it embarassed. Then the teacher gave the same word to the next kid (it was just us two left). I was so mad because it was so obvious how to spell it after I got it wrong!

In 7th grade my friend confidently spelled marshmallow “marshmellow” and was so cocky about it he started walking back to seat before the moderator even buzzed him. I laughed so hard at his hubris then got eliminated for misspelling “northern.”
I love that the judge still had to check if it was wrong

I've heard this was a bit he came up with at the Groundlings and used to do all the time. Comics all loved it but Lorne or the other producers felt it was too weird to make it on air.

@@davidgrenier Lorne has always been way too conservative with a lot of the mediocre sketches that make it to air. I feel like SNL could use a lot more super bizarre, absurdist, WTF humor like this. Another one of Will Forte's sketches I really love is the NASA skit where Jason Sudeikis vomits up a potato chip into his hand. And of course, Clancy T. Bachleratt and Jackie Snad singing Easter duets. So stupid but pure genius.

@@cahinton. MacGruber is a testament to Forte's wit and comedic timing. They should have definitely let the newer cast get away with more bizarre sketches. Looking back at the early days of SNL, there's some absolute madness.
I wish every SNL skit ended with Tenacious D singsplaining it like this. Absolute legend.

I love how the audiences laughs and then it dies down and then it comes back even harder when they realize he's going to keep this going.
I’m so glad that this was my era of SNL. Being a teenager; staying up late on Saturdays watching this cast & The Lonely Island. Wonderful memories.
I love how every one of Will Forte's feature sketches feel precariously close to real madness.

He was the master of the fifteen-to-one sketch that they'd put on at the end of the show. He ruled that territory and made it the most interesting part of nearly every episode.

Been waiting so long for them to release this. The 'wrong' is so perfectly delivered. Always puzzled me why SNL kept trying to get rid of Chris Parnell. Never cracked but was never critical of co-stars who did and just kept a sketch motoring when the wheels were falling off

@@crispytg: Only kinda. He was fired twice, both times due to budget cuts. The first time, after his 2nd season, Will Ferrell lobbied hard to get him back. The second time was after his 8th season, & he said he was cool with it; he's made guest-appearances on the show a few times since then.

There was a “y” in there. Y is used as a vowel sometimes like in “fly” or “cry”.

I remember when this and Cowbell was completely removed from the internet and it was nearly impossible to find them I'm glad to see these classics back for our amusement.
I saw this when it aired, and The Lonely Island/Seth Meyers podcast brought me back. A hilarious sketch and a kickass Tenacious D song 2-for-1!
