    I fixed my problem of Flight Mode changes not being registered in the Forward Programming screens of DX8 Transmitter by starting a new model on the transmitter, factory reset on AR637T and reprogramming . The problems I was seeing ( in my previous comment) seems to stem from using a transmitter model previously bound to a AR636A receiver and then rebound to a AR637T and forward programmed . There appears to be some software conflict that lead to Flight Mode changes not being registered in the forward programming routines but still registering in other functions of the transmitter.... note for Spektrum software guys but nice job on getting the forward programming system out there .I like it :).

    Great video series, thank you! But I miss one chapter that explains in detail all about the heading hold feature (when and how to use). And I miss another chapter that covers the trim function: some say never use any TX trim for AS3X mode and safe mode as this is interpreted as a continued stick input. In your FAQ chapter you mention that the plane can be trimmed without worry in AS3X and safe mode. Where can I get detaild information on those two topics?

    Gents, Thank you for your insights and education. I'm now using my second AR637T and feel comfortable programing as desired. I am a little concerned about this second one as the throttle, when sitting in the off (pulled back, not throttle kill) position, will suddenly and momentarily bust on. I'm guessing to about 25% or so - and then it's back off again. This has happed at various times during programming and most scary, when simply orientating the plane in random positions to test Flight Modes and angle limits. My plane is electric with a smart ESC.

    Thanks for this presentation. I have a question which is - When setting the plane "level" - does this mean level as it would normally fly. I have a visionaire which is a tail dragger and so theoretically i have to lift the plane up at the tail to get the wings level - is this right? Thank you

    Forward programming is great but we all don’t fly together so if I want to put a 637T in one of my models and use the same settings as my buddy (who has the same plane) 5 states over as a starting point but don’t know his trim settings or gains it was easier to use a system like the 636 SRM file. Would be nice to have this option as well and still use the PC for the 637T

    Hi, Although I'm new to this, I've flown on and off for decades and I find this new tech quite confusing. I have just bought an AR38360T and the manual says "Do not use open mixes for flight control surfaces when setting up a model with AR8360T for AS3X and SAFE....". My question is : what is an "open mix" as opposed to any other kind of mix ? As I'm flying an F5J glider mixes are needed to for crow braking and camber so I'm a bit stuck not knowing exactly what you mean.

    A very helpful video, as is the series. I’m new to AS3X and struggling to get the gyro to respond. Is this because the Heading Gain must be greater than zero? I’ve followed the setup video and when I do the AS3X check I get no response from the plane. SAFE works fine.

    AS3X can be very hard to see on some models. It only corrects while the model is in motion, unlike safe or heading hold where it corrects until the orientation is returned to the designated point. Try watching your servo horns or surfaces VERY CLOSELY while you physically move the model. Also Safe mode is a great way to make sure the surfaces are correcting in the right direction because there is no way it will be different then the AS3X directions because in essences SAFE is built off the AS3X algorithm. Hope that helps!

    Hi , I received an AR637T received this week. I copied a many times flown model into a new position on my updated DX8G2. The RX in the model previously was an AR8000, but it's a very basic 4 channel plane. Here's where the issues start. I bound the AR637T to the new copy, binding was no issue, but **nothing armed. No beeps, nothing. ** I went through the AR637T setup procedure, it gets to the "receiver is rebooting message" and stays right there. I was thinking maybe after completing the basic setup procedure it would arm, but no. I did pull the plug a few times, cycled the tx etc. I put the aR8000 back in...and bound to the original copy and all works. Note...I did match the orientation the server connections old rx to new rx (ground up), then thinking ok maybe it's different, I reversed the servo connections. Still nothing. Here's the biggie I guess. Even without doing the initial setup, I expected the AR637T to act like a regular RX. Did I just get a bad one?

    My iX20 will not see the AR637T receiver in my Conscendo Evolution for Forward Programing. When I go to Forward programing, the iX20 says "Navigation not found", and at the bottom of the screen, it displays in print a 9010 receiver. I have tried binding with the bind plug in the battery area of the Consendo and also using the bind button on the receiver. The results is the same. I also tried binding it to my iX12 with the same results. That tells me there is nothing wrong with the iX20 transmitter. Both transmitters have the latest updates. Either I am doing something wrong or there is a problem with the AR637T receiver in the new Consendo Evolution. Your help would be greatly appreicated. Thank you for your help with my problem.

    I'm using a DX6 with the AR637T. I have my flight modes on switch B. If I want to experiment with 3 different gains setting (ex. 15% for AIL and ELE, 25% for AIL and ELE, 35% for AIL and ELE, I'm flying a Flightline P51 850mm with no rudder) can I put those 3 different gain settings on switch D? That way I start with the lowest then see how high I could go before oscillation. If it's possible how would I do that? These videos are nice, but not everyone could afford these fancy transmitters. Just focusing on the fancy transmitters I'm sure is turning people away from the hobby.

    I recently purchased two aircraft with the AR637TA receiver pre installed (BNF), and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the telemetry to report altitude. With the AR637T that I have used in a number of different models, I was able to go in and select telemetry, then "auto configure" and got it to work, but with the AR637TA, nope. 3 questions questions. 1) Can heading settings be setup for leveling . The way I understand it is the gains are for transient corrections eg wind corrections. 2) IfI use 6 channel Throttle, Aileron, rudder,elevator flaps landing gear can the AR637T telemetry channel be used for the mode switch .I've been using Gear channel ( sometimes I can use flaps channel ) . 3)So the AR637T a 6 channel+Telemetry receiver but not using one of the 6 channels for telemetry ? Thanks

  • @SpektrumRCvideos

    @SpektrumRCvideos

    Hi John! lets see if we can answer your queries... 1) Heading Hold Gains do not self level, they simply hold the heading of the last known command. So if you pull up to a 30* angle the model will do its best to keep you in that angle until you give an input to change that heading. If you want a Self Level mode you will want to setup SAFE. 2) The 637T has 6 channel outputs BUT is listening to upto 20 channels for flight modes/gain settings. That way you can utilize all the outputs for controls on your model and then if you have a 7+ch tx you can use say AUX2 for flight modes. 3) Telemetry DOES NOT use up any channels. :) Hope that helps!

    All our latest AS3X receivers are listening to up to 20 channels for just this purpose. So yes you will be able to use Aux2 and 3 for gain and modes. Hope that helps!

    Great series of videos, nothing against Forward Programming. But it should NOT be the only option. After all this time it is clear that Spektrum has no intention of releasing PC programming or any model sharing application for their new receivers. It is not that difficult. Just there is no will to help customers.

    For some reason, maybe me beeing stupid :), I can not as with the AR636 usage get the L Trim on my ix12 go to enough high and low values so I can get that Trim button be used for changing the AS3X gains (instead of the suggested Right knob). I only get it to go to +29 to -29 in the monitorview ?!!?, which results that I can only change the gain a little, not from 0 to 100 %.

    Because those port assignments can change depending on model type and how you have the wing type selected, among a number of reasons. One great tool that helps to figure out where to plug in everything is the servo monitor screen on your transmitter. Listed from left to right, those are where you should plug in your servos etc. Hope that helps!
