    Thanks Ryan, I didn't realize my batteries were going to auto discharge. I had set timer for 72 hours. But it's been a couple of days so I thought I needed to discharge them "manually" I realize now it's automatic but I set it to 48 hours instead of 72.

    There are no Task Settings labeled "Smart Discharge" or even an "Auto Discharge". There are only 3 settings and they are named: "Charge", "Discharge" and "Storage". You can ruin a perfectly good battery if you don't push the arrow that last third time down to "Storage". If you go only as far as Discharge without knowing it, the battery will be discharged down to zip. This has been my experience but I luckily caught it at 2 volts. My Comment is a warning about using the "Discharge" setting as I almost ruined my battery. The "Instruction Manual" because it in only safety and regulatory,,, not How to use the settings and what they mean. (thrown in the box to fulfill a regulatory requirement .) They need to do a proper DFU (Directions For Use) . You video is very good in that it shows how to set the "Storage" task but do not address, demonstrate, or use the "Discharge" Task. I have not been able to find an answer anywhere despite hours of research on the Spektrum S1200 G2 Smart Charger. Question #1: In Settings: TASK: There are 3 choices: Charge, Discharge, and Storage. What is the technical difference between two settings on " Storage" and "Discharge"? I know what Storage does. It will bring up the voltage or lower the voltage to the presets you set with the XBC100 Smart Checker. The Problem: I set the S1200 to "Discharge" to reduce the charge on a fully charged battery I did not get to use on my flying day. The Issue was that after a while, maybe after 1/2 hr it pulled the voltage down to 2 volts and I was alarmed and stopped it. What is the purpose of the "Discharge Setting"? If I had used the Storage setting there would not have been a problem. I hope you can try this out because I haven't been able to find any explanation or actual official guidance on this TASK called "Discharge" when they should at least have a warning about its use. Thanks in advance.

I've tried with two receivers , a Lemon 10 channel and a Spektrum AR7610 and no luck. Out of frustration, I ordered a Spektrum AR8010t which I supposedly can 'S Bus' into the Aura 8. 2200 mAh is 2.2 Ah (milli=thousandths, of course) milli-amphere hour. So the 2.2 amp is from the 2.2 Ah. (Some batteries label it 2.2 vs 2200 or Ah vs mAh) Spelling out the Ah is amp hour. So it means it has the capacity of delivering 2.2 amp current for 1 hour. That would be 1 C discharge. 20 C discharge is discharging 20 times faster than the capacity of the battery, so 2.2 amp (or 2.2 Ah or 2200 mAh) x 20 C = 44 amps max recommended discharge current (some batteries have a momentary burst rating that would be a higher C - think about a quad punching out vertically). Charging at 2.2 amp would be 1 hour charging, but not that long in actuality as we only drain 60 percent of capacity or less per run. If you're charging at 1 C for really any battery it mostly always works out that in 40 minutes or less they are done. The C is always related to the capacity. Big dog eats a big bowl but with a bigger bites than a little dog and his little bowl, you get the point. They finish at the same time. The voltage doesn't really come into play for this calc, as long as you set it correct for your cell count. As long as you balance charge each time, your charger will make sure you have the cell count correct as it accounts for the voltage of each cell throughout the cycle. Trust me, I was confused on this stuff for a long time. If this seems too much, read it over and over. I promise, you'll be passing it along before you know it.

    Exactly my Question. Why do you have to connect the balance plug? When the battery was connected to the checker without balancer, cell 1 and 2 showed 4.2v after the balancer got connected, 4.178 and 4.187??

  • @ddfwaj

    @ddfwaj

    4 жыл бұрын

    aedu83 Yeah I never noticed that but my guess is the checker is exactly that just a rough guide. In order to balance accurately you have to plug in the balance lead. Seems really stupid to have all this tech built into a battery and still have to plug in the balance lead, whats the point!

  • @jairdabrini

    @jairdabrini

    Good question - hope you get an answer by OP. It could be for how long you are gonna store the battery also, I'm mean until the next planned use. If the battery can discharge itself using either the smart checker or the s1500 charger you shouldn't be able to input that it'll take +300 hours doing it as that would leave the battery with wrong storage voltage for many days and nights before being discharged to storage level. Gonna google the manual for that charger see if I can't find what that setting is about...

  • @Lord_Pistachio_Nut

    @Lord_Pistachio_Nut

    2 жыл бұрын

    Begin is the answer. It'll hold its charge (as well as mechanically possible) until the "self discharge" time you specify. Then, once 48 hours (or whatever you choose) hits it will start discharging to the specific voltage you specified (stock is 3.9v I believe) Though, it does take FOREVER for them to self discharge to storage specs so IMO it's best to just storage charge/discharge them through the smart charger when you know you're done for a while 🤷‍♂️ From what I've gathered, there's a little LED inside the batteries that turns on when self discharge starts - since there's only two ways to discharge 1)using the battery 2) heat - so it uses the battery via said LED. When you discharge via charger it's the heat method - charger pulls charge out of battery and converts it to heat. I see I'm 11 months late but it's never too late for the right answer lol
