I use my ticker tape mainly to display smart ESC telemetry voltage. I then turn my ticker tape, function bar area, totally green and it makes it very nice to see the real-time airplane battery voltage on the main screen. I also set the ESC Telemetry voltage alarm to 10.5 volts(3.5v per cell) , that way I know exactly when I have to land regardless of what I've set the countdown alarm timer to.

I think your videos are absoluely brilliant. As a returnee to R/C after a 25 year gap, just what I needed.Thanks 👍👍👍

Much thanks, I’ve had my nx10 for a few months but just installed a avian esc & “smart” battery and was getting some rather annoying warnings I couldn’t stifle. I’m really pleased with my new equipment but spektrum need to improve their manuals imo. Again, I appreciate your time & effort in creating these instructional videos.

Try using the auto config in the telemetry screen. When warnings arent working correctly,can be annoying. New radios are really nice for sure. Thanks for the positivity :)

With the NX8, is there any chance to have the gps speed telemetry on a switch? I see the Vario has a switch setting. I would like to have my ground speeds on final, but not necessarily every 5 seconds for the entire flight. Seems a bit distracting. I'm thinking EDF jets.

Hi, I would like to know how the NX can call out percentage of throttle, not rpm?

just a question... how do you get altimeter with the receiver specktrum AR637TA ? The receiver is the light version of the AR637T without altimeter, airspeed, etc... Which additional module should we buy ? i use the NX8 transmitter.

Aircraft Telemetry Variometer Sensor Item No.SPMA9589

I’m trying to figure out why I can’t get my radio to call out the voltage while in flight. I am using a Spektrum ar631 receiver in all the airplanes with a NX8 radio. Some of the will call it out and others say no data. What am I doing differently?

If I have a telemetry RX but not a smart battery, can I use the Status Report to get voice call out readings?

You can get pack voltage if you have the voltage cable hooked up.

My Turbo Timber 1.5m has the AR637TA Rx and I installed the Variometer sensor SPMA9589 in the XBUS of both sensor and Rx. The variometer is working but there is altitude, which is what I really wanted the sensor to provide is not working. I have tried hitting clear button on the Tx after the model has had time to boot up. It shows a beginning altitude of 5650 feet at the bottom of the screen? We are at approximately 950 above sea level in Indianapolis. There is also a clear tube in the Turbo Timber installed on the bulkhead of the Timber? HobbyTown shop staff does not know about the sensor, and Horizon Hobby tech support has been no help either. 🤷‍♂🤷‍♂

Go into telemetry screen and use auto config. Thehn check results. If both Altimeter and Vario come up and not working,use Vario only. Altimeter doesnt show above see level.It shows altitude above where you take off. So should read 0 initially. If plane goes up 300 feet,altimeter will show 300...

Hey, awesome video man, I have problems programming the telemetry on my NX10. Receiver is capable of telemetry but it says no data available and the vario or airspeed doesn`t get shown. do you have any idea whats the problem?

What model is receiver? Also Airspeed doesnt show unless you have the optional sensor.

how can I reset maximum values (i.e. max alt during a flight period) ?

You would have to be on the screen and push clear button to reset them.

Ailtitude works on AR8020T with built in barometer so you dont need anything additional. Total battery voltage can be read with included voltage cable.Use with battery leads on ESC or make DIY cable whichj i have video :)

I have NX8 and RV-7 airplane with smart Avian ESC and AR631 receiver and I'm using a Spektrum 4 cell 2200 battery - the documentation says it supports fly by telemetry, In the Telemetry screen it shows 1. Smart battery with 2-9 empty, 10 is Rx and 11 flight log. I did as you say for Function Bar / Ticker tape setup - sensor - volts, field - volts and duration I set to 20 sec. when I go back to the main screen nothing shows up at the bottom of the screen.

Try running the auto config. Also when you at main menu and scroll to the right,what all info comes up?

@@BDTennessee thanks, turns out AUTO CONFIG was needed, I can now see the ESC battery voltage. I put the VOLTAGE on the Ticker Tape option and it displays on the Function bar - Now I would like to put it on a switch and hear Audio called out the battery voltage so I don't have to take my eyes off the plane while in flight.

@@lw216316 glad it worked :) If you want to put that callout on switch you need to program the audio event. Settings > Audio Event > Stepping report

Hey bud I have the nx8 and when I turn on my trans and then plug it into my new F16 Falcon eflite bird with a recommend smart bat I keep getting this alarm and yes my battery is fully charged and the trans is fully charged I get this WARNING SMART BATTERY ALARM battery not charged for flying and the volts says 24.23V. any idea on what is going on?

1) Confirm the condition of the battery (all cells equal and ones not down) because 24.23 means the cells are at 4.03 (if all cells are close) and full is 4.20 2) Go into the telemetry settings > Enter on Voltage > go to alarms and see what the "starting pack voltage" is set too

@@BDTennessee start up volt is min 4.10 and overcharge max is 4.30 is that correct or does it need to be changed?

@@DronemanJoeRc with those numbers that means one cell (if using smart battery) or total voltage (non smart battery)has them less than 4.10 a cell is causing the warning. As i mentioned earlier doing the math for a 6S battery there at 4.03 a cell which is below the 4.10 threshold that trips the warning.

I followed your proceedure step by step but still have NO data displayed on my function bar. All I want is have my voltage displayed continously with a warning when below 3.8v per cell. Im using an NX8 with an Eflight Cessna 150T and an AR637TA reciever. Help?

Im using Spectrum 4s 5000mah smart battery. I figured out how to use the ESC as the monitoring point to display the battery voltage but now when the battery begins to get about hapfway through its usable voltage the radio starts announcing the esc temp, amperage etc. How can I get it to just announce the battery voltage when its at (about) 14.8 - 15v ? @@BDTennessee

this vid does not match my NX8 drop menu. I dnt have a smart ESC, only smart battery.
