Spektrum AS3000 Switch Setup Tutorial

In this how to video Miguel helps us understand the many different options users have with setting up switches to control gain on the AS3000. This setup can also be used to help understand how to use Digital Switch Setup and Flight modes. These methods are the same for all Gen 2 Spektrum Transmitters, and is easily translated to Spektrum iX12 radio users (menus are the same, just how to select the options use a touch screen). Enjoy

i was asking that in your power safe video about having it where i can turn it off and mid and high rate using the AS3000 like i did on my 9350.

Been away from the sport for awhile and was thinking about getting back in but sure seems like you need a college degree in computers to even load a plane in truck.I used to think it was a lot simpler to have some fun . I would almost be afraid to buy one of these transmitter. It would be simpler to just buy a bunch of RTF from bangood .Nice looking stuff though might just forget getting back in the hobbie, Have a good day.

I know this is an old thread but I want to make sure I have this correct: I can have a certain flight mode in which only roll & yaw have gains and pitch is off but only in that mode?

Hi Miguel, Another great video. I have a question. I had never used the Digital Switch settings before. They are brilliant. My normal turbine gyro settings are to use the flap switch to adjust the gyro gain: Some gain with no flaps, more with half flaps and even more with full flaps. This essentially increases the gain as you slow the plane. I also use a separate switch (H) to turn the gyro off or on. Up until now, this required fairly complex programming using either 3 mixes with combo switches, or the gyro function with 3 curves based on the flap switch setting. I see that by using the Digital Switch settings, I can adjust the gyro gain directly and still control the flaps with the same switch as the digital settings only apply to the channel specified and the flap system uses the switch independently. This is great. My only problem is how to get the additional on-off switch. I could probably do it with a mix but was wondering if you had some more magic up your sleeve. Thanks atgain for the enlightening video.

BTW, I should have also said that I don't want to use Flight Modes as I am using this to control other functions like Dual Rates.

Hi Ken. The best way to have a killswitch would be to use the flight modes feature with 2 switches as weve done here. You would make a different flight mode assignment table though. When 2 pos switch is pos 0, your 3 pos should give you FM2, FM3, FM4. And when 2 pos is in pos 1, you will set FM1, FM1, and FM1 for your 3 pos switch positions. Using the flight modes should be no problem, as you can still use the same switch for your other functions such as dual rates or flaps. Assigning a switch to flight modes doesnt prevent it from being used with other features in conjunction.

So if your 3 pos switch for flight modes is switch B, instead of using F-mode for dual rates, I would just assign switch B instead. Then your dual rates wont change when you go yo Fmode 1 to turn off the gyro

Hi Miguel thanks for the response. That’s exactly what I did and it’s working really well. Now if I could only get My hands on one of the gyros I could really have some fun. But I’m ready when you gets delivered

Is it possible to setup different gains for different surfaces, like 15 for elevators an 75 for rudders , for example setting up b2 bomber with drag rudders

Yes you can set gains for each "Axis" and also they can be set to change with your flight mode switches, so you can have gains for different flying conditions

Hi Meguel, I have just installed the AS3000 in three of my planes. Thank you for such an informative video. My question: When landing a giant scale gas powered warbird, which setting would be of most use ;..Heading Hold or Gyro?

I can help you with this information. Never use Heading Hold to fly .... heading hold is for low speed maneuvering or hovering only. Another tip ... to land, decrease the elevator gain. It has happened to me a few times, the plane comes so solid and stable that you don't realize stall speed, and it's belly flat on the ground.
