If not now, did you use to and dont any more? P.s. I'm about 1 year into all grain brewing and only now starting to play with the water profile a bit.. again brewfather has made that easy for me. Hi there! I am still dialing the numbers in Brewfather but for this particular bach it was: Brew house efficiency: 75% and the Mash efficiency 77,9%. The BAC brewing filter plates are just making just a very small difference, the one with the larger grid makes the gravity about 2 points higher then the originals from Speidel. BUT, the BAC plates are SO many easier to clean and they don't change in shape, even after many brews. Totally worth the costs. Cheers!

    Fellow Dutch brewer here. Where did you get the whirlflocs for in NL? Is it better than Irish Moss? Ps To each his own but Dutch water companies say only cold water can be guaranteed to be safe as hot tap water could pick up material from the pipes. Cheers! ;)

    I purchased the whirlfloc on Ebay, all the way from the USA. Did it once, a bag of 100 tablets, it serves me for many,many years 😂 I like it very much, Irish moss can be used to but in my cases there was always some kind of sandy, tiny rocks residu on the bottom of the kettle and it makes scratches when moving the immersion chiller. Cheers and thanks for the advice on the hot tap water but I am not concerned about it for some reasons. Thanks anyway 😊

    Great Video, Thanks! I have the 20l Braumeister. Some questions please: 1. What exactly did you add to clear the wort from the hop trub? 2. 103C for boiling is very high. I have the problem when I set to 100C it already starts to boil at around 98C and never reaches 100C, so the time never counts down. So why does your boil timer counts down as it should never reach 103C? What is the trick here? 3. Did you do any modifications to the washing machine? You took the upper basket out and what else? 4. What is that machine next to the fermenter to make the cooling water? 5. The beer at the end in the glass, is that the same recepie? Nice color! Thank you very much 😊😎👍🍺

  • @homebeerbrewery

    1: A whirlfloc tablet, it's something like Irish moss. 2: 103 degrees Celsius is the maximum setting, just to avoid the element turning off. The trick? check the boil, if it's boiling just lower with "select" temporary the temperature, you will see the timer directly starts, finally just set the temp again to the maximum. :-) 3: No modifications, all original. 4: That's a Lindr AS-40. It cools the water for the fermenter indeed. There are several videos on my channel about it, give it a search please. 5: No it's a Citra IPA, different brew! The Autumn Amber Ale is darker. Tasting video will follow soon. Cheers 🍻

  • @homebeerbrewery

    3 жыл бұрын

    Klaas, sorry. I thought your comment was on a different video, YT studio doesn't show a thumbnail with a comment incoming. In YT studio it does and then it's all clear. Ok again about the hop pallets: no issues with using about 120 grams of hops total on a 52/55 liter batch. The pumps don't get clogged in my cases. I had one of the 2 get clogged with with a extreme load of hop (IPA) Even when both pumps aren't working the only downside will be the cooling process taken some more time. After cooling en transferring the wort the BM needs to be cleaned, I ALWAYS clean the pump and disable it, you be surprised how much junk is in there. After cleaning you are good to go again for the next brew. Always use a hop filter with whole leave hops :-) Cheers 🍻

  • @homebeerbrewery

    @homebeerbrewery

    3 жыл бұрын

    If you mean the stainless steel Speidel hood: For sure, for many reasons but take a note that it creates a vigorous boil that makes the hop additions (when not using a hop filter of spider) go stick on the side of the kettle above the level of the wort you boiling, solution is keeping a gap between the hood with the U shaped metal that you also use to rest the malt pipe on. But, it's nice to use as a funnel and to adapt it to a ventilation hood or air extract system. If you mean the hood for taking away the condensation: I always boil outside no need for that anymore. Cheers Darren! 🍻

    Hoi, ja13 KG is de max lijkt mij, meer kan er wel in maar ik denk dat je efficiënty erg omlaag gaat. Gewoon eens proberen. De nieuwste plus versie met verstelbare pomp zou in theorie meer kunnen maïsen omdat die pomp opgeschroefd kan worden, dat kan met mijn 10 liter ook. Ik merk dat de efficiëntie een punt of 2 hoger is. Ik zou zeggen, gewoon experimenteren! Proost 🍻

    Paar vraagjes over de BM50. We brouwen nu 3 jaar met brewmonk 50, en willen de enalaatste versie van de BM50 kopen: 1. Kun je naast de hoge prijs en het gewicht van de ketel een ander nadeel noemen aan de BM50? 2. Ik zie dat je efficiëntie 75% is. Is dit ook haalbaar bij zwaardere bieren van meer dan 9%?

  • @homebeerbrewery

    @homebeerbrewery

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hoi, 1. Ik zou persoonlijk de “oude” versie kopen, scheet enorm veel geld omdat de dubbelwandige koel mantel een slecht rendement heeft t.o.v. Een dompel of plaatkoeler/tegenstroomkoeler maar dat even ter zijde. Misschien vind je de WiFi en touchscreen een must :-) . Ik ben super tevreden met de oude versie maar is blijft 1 ding wat een beperking is, zie antwoord 2. 2.De beperkte mout capaciteit van 13KG+- is wel altijd een uitdaging, als je 50 liter wort of meer wil hebben met een OG van 1.065 zal je bij volmout bieren altijd dubbel moeten maisen of toch voor een suiker gift moeten gaan. Dubbel maisen al 1 keer gedaan, werkt wel maar kost veel tijd. Antwoord op je vraag: hoe meer mout op of boven de 13KG gestort wordt hoe slechter de efficiency. De nieuwste versie wat je in punt 1 aanhaalt heeft echter wel verstelbare flow van de pompen, hogere flow met maisen gaf bij mijn BM 10 liter wel een hoger rendement.

  • @mavasnl

    @mavasnl

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@homebeerbrewery Ok top! Wij zien geen meerwaarde in wifi, bij unibrew scheelt dat nu bijna 1000 euro! Daar is dus de "oude" versie voor behoorlijk verlaagde prijs te koop. Bedankt voor je antwoord op vraag 2. Suikergift is natuurlijk "not done" :p Het dubbel maischen is dan wel een nadeel, kost je zo 2 uur extra. De Grainfather G70 of de Brewtools 80 overwegen we ook nog, maar de G70 lees en zie ik echt veel slechte reviews over en de BT80 is gewoon weer een stapje duurder. Dus dan is de BM50 uiteindelijk prijs/kwaliteit-technisch op dit moment het beste lijkt me.
