@@bluevalor491 because FE cipher stopped back in like 2021, so we probably won’t really get too much unique official art for the Engage characters.

This video made me realize I don't dislike the overall designs in Engage nearly as much as I thought I did. Thank you for your service. Glad to see Citrinne and Lapis got some love, those two immediately delighted me after I was put off by some of the early reveals.

Its interesting seeing people look at the designs blind as someone whos kept up to date with this game

I’m pretty sure when it says that Amber is a romanticist it just means that he’s fond of stories and fables so basically he’s in love with stories and such

The thing on Merrin that looks like a tail is indeed a tail. She's one of the new classes and the class adds a tail to them.

My biggest criticism with the Engage designs is the faces. There are a lot of templated faces with palette swaps for eye color and such. A lot of the faces look the same as a result. This is new for Fire Emblem - there was always a lot of facial variety in the past games, even going back to the GBA games. You had a lot more variety in facial expressions in the portraits, and shapes and beards and all kinds of features made every unit unique. Because of this I'm having a really hard time memorizing the character designs with the names. There is a lot of blur. If not for the outfits, these characters would all look the same, minus a couple who are older or have darker skin colour.

This is purely just a model issue in the game, when you look at the art released by the main artist for the game it’s 20x better and the faces are more unique

If Alears design has foreshadowing elements with the story then I think the dual colors is kinda cool

I can’t wait to see how this list will change after the game actually comes out and we know more about these characters.

Pannette gives me day of the dead vibes so I cant help but be into her design despite how lets say eye catching it is

It’s very French inspired so it makes sense the clothes are frilly and colorful. I love the outfits 🤷🏻‍♂️

I can't tell you how many times I replayed glitter's scream ( 56:30 ) when she saw Rosado lol. I think they're probably my favorite reaction ever. Great video~

You guys' reaction to Marnie (47:38) made me laugh out loud.

my two faves ended up 3rd best and 3rd worst so I feel simultaneously validated and denied lol. I think you guys really portrayed my overall feelings in the cast though. it's a very varied and out there cast but despite how crazy the designs are a lot of them generally work somehow, but then there are some that just really, really don't. at the very least they certainly pass the silhouette test. also i don't know why but the Boucheron counter was hilarious to me, probably because it's 2 am where i live and i'm sleep deprived but i loved it.

You should do it again after playing the game. Like... make a Tier list based on the character's personalities and not considering the design.

If you think that design of Diamant is cool, you should see him wearing his promoted class’ outfit. It’s super cool!

FE Engage is like TMS FE but in a mainline game (however, the fact that there are characters from other "worlds" reminds me of FEH, and almost makes me want to believe this is a spin-off). The gameplay will be as much as we expect from a mainline FE game, ofc. I will say this: some people criticize character design in FE:3H, but I think that game more or less nailed the "medieval mixed with anime-ish" aesthetics. FE Engage is simply flamboyantly anime. Are all of them bad? I don't think so, there are some really good ones, like Anna's design.

A romanticist is someone who has big, idealized fantasies about a subject, usually in regards to heroism or war. Amber is not going to be a Casanova, more like a wannabe hero.

I think the outfits are based on historical French fashion (the names are in french and some weapons too)? they seem very similar to what nobles wear in Dragon Age inquisition. Definitely an underrated fashion choice for Anime games.

You actually nailed the pronunciation for Boucheron. It’s literally the French word for Butcher.

My favorite ones of this game are Citrinne, Ivy, and Alfred. Citrinne because I really love girls like Maribelle, Clair, or Constance, and she gives me that vibes. Ivy because she looks so cool, and from what I've seen she looks like a member of the Minerva archetype which is one of my favorites. And Alfred because he looks like a really loyal friend to Alear and I like that. I'm ok with the tier list. I like most of the characters designs of this game, but some of them are very... Yeah... Also, thanks to Dots too for collecting all the portraits.

Glitter opinions are always top tier. I feel like there are very good character designs for Engage, can't wait to play it !

Personally the Orange/Green isn't that big of a thing for me even though I hate Orange. But also I can't wait for the Fogato/Pandreo banter cause it will def be S tier

Diamont looks very reminiscent of Vangaurd Ike. I think mostly bc the red cape and arm armor. It'd be cool if they gave him the ability to promote into a vangaurd instead of some "great lord" or "high lord" class

With the rumor that this was meant to be it was like 20th or 25th Feb anniversary it makes sense because everyone seems to be "inspired" by past characters. I do love how chole went from speedys top girl to nearly the last choice by the end of the video.

ok but I love when you guys collab. The vids are A++++. Yuna from FFX has heterochromia too! Her eyes are green/blue. For me personally, I think Diamant, Ivy, and Chloé are the best designed. They look awesome. Céline and Alfred are at the bottom imo.

Trust me after seeing Amber’s dialogue and short game footage, I don’t think he’s sketchy at all. He seems like he might be one of the purest characters. From what was shown on KZread and Serenes Forest so far he gives off Ferdinand vibes 😂

It's because they read the part of his bio that said "romantisist" and assumed it meant he's the flirt of the game, rather than someone who looks for the beauty and sentiment of a situation.

I liked female Alear ever since I first saw her. Somehow the Blue/Red combination works for me in this design. Male Alear is whatever.. but I don't care for guys most of the time. Alfred is cool tho!

I love how they guess them by archetype compared to others in the series but i swear to god every single character in this game is such a cutie patootie. I want to hug every single one of them. 🤗

Alfred reminds me more of Leo from Fates than Dimitri , and Amber is LITERALLY FERDINAND COMEONNNN

Meehhhh, I guess this is likely because I'm not a fan of genshin-type designs, and I think the artstyle is kinda of obnoxious, but there are only a handful of designs that I think are even passable. I like citrine, fogato, Anna, Chloe, and Diamante. I think a vast majority if the designs are too busy with too many colors/accessories. Timerra is soo close to being wonderful, but I hate the Christmas tree ornaments in her hair and all over her. Generally I don't like the aesthetic for the characters, the characters look like they have a ton of eyeliner on and it drives me nuts. The random lacy straps, frills, ascots, ribbons, that feel like they're just everywhere make a majority of designs absolutely unbearable to look at. And the hair, my God, the hair! Between the ugly bangs and constant criss-crossed strands (sometimes in different colors), it's just not my thing. The face paint/tattoos is really hit or miss for me, like having the heart/star on the cheek just feels so unbearably anime and modern. Celine is by far one of my least favorite designs, because there is just waaaay too much going on with her, and the dress that makes her look like aunt fanny from robots the animated movie drives me up a wall. And I don't like her crown, its too big, If they made it more like a tiara and not stand 5 inches off her head I'd like it more. I'm glad yall enjoy them, but nothing has absolutely destroyed my enthusiasm for this game quite like the character design. To me, it's the visual equivalent of a sugar rush and i hate that I have so little enthusiasm for the next game in my favorite series.

So far I like Diamant and Lapis, if Rosado’s a wyvern rider then I like them too.

They really don't know how to write interesting bios for character. The amount of them that were just 'this person is nice and is happy when nice things happen.' Meanwhile anyone from elucia they are mysterious / odd / serious. Pannett was the most revealing saying about her ghouls and bug interest. Also we have 3 tiny girls in this game with who have extraordinary strength, sick of this trope.(etie, lapis and marni)

I'm mad late on this video but it's crazy to see how accurate Glitter was about her guesses on Kagetsu

I don't know why but Diamant reminds me of Percival from Granblue Fantasy in terms of his design.

Out of all these characters, I'm most looking forward to the royals from Brodia and Elusia. Ivy looks really cool, and I hope that she remains mysterious and all that, and Diamant is just awesome-looking. Red and black is my favorite color combination, and his art also reminds me of Resplendent Eldigan. I hope he's the super-serious powerhouse lord (like Xander) and that he gets to fight Griss, who's another favorite of mine. I always like characters who enjoy battle and getting stronger all like Kenpachi Zaraki and Felix, and his design reminds me of Gyutaro, one of the villains from the Entertainment District Arc of Demon Slayer. I hope we get a cutscene where he has a fast, strike-then-return-to-the-shadows style of fighting, while Diamant defends and waits for the right moment. And while this is REALLY pushing it, I also hope there's a map where the two of them are locked in a room together in a fight to the death similar to Corrin vs Ryoma/Xander in Fates. And the battle wouldn't end after their duel, and that the victor would then leave to help their side out. (REALLY REALLY pushing it there.) As one last note: BUCHERON (oh ho ho)

For alear there is a trailer where alear has red hair and eyes while being surrounded by flames so you can probably become good or evil to change colors for your hair and eyes so blue if you're good and red if you're evil

Timerra is currently my favorite. Diamante is cool and jade. Top tier designs imo. I also love infantry lance units. I wanna like alfred but i just see dimitri light 😅

If it wasn't for the fact that characters can wear different outfits, the overly puffy dress would have kept Celine in the low end of S tier imo. 31:43 And Goldmary Supremacy is strong in this one, which I am all for.

As someone who's *almost* finished the game, all imma say is the promoted versions of the unique classes look kinda better, also in all honesty I was more annoyed at the weapon designs, like idk if I'm just too much of a history nerd but if silver weapons are meant to be these master crafted top tier things, why the shit is the silver sword a regular arming sword? Also blades and greataxes don't even get me started... greatlances tho are somewhat acceptable Also why does the longbow look like a modern bow? Ik that's nitpicking tho But ye as far as characters go for gameplay all imma say is gameplay wise Louis and Kagetsu are god tier tbh, they also have cool designs (well, Kagetsu's design is cool but Louis is pretty much ur usual armour dude) so they're probably my favourites

As odd as this sounds, this video is what swayed me to give Engage a chance. I've been so fixated on Alear's *A T R O C I O U S* design that I never took the time to look at the other characters. Most of them aren't bad!

This made me realize that I don't actually hate Engage's character design that much, I just hate Alear

I’m very mixed on a lot of these designs then I learned the lead character designer Mika Pikazo is the designer of VTuber Hakos Baelz and also designs for over Vtubers so it started to make sense to me. After playing it honestly the designs are still mixed on me, Alear did grow a lot on me I’m pretty neutral to both male and female while my favorite being Diamat, just looks so powerful and his promotion doesn’t change much but the little details it adds are great and second favorite is his brother Alycryst mainly also from his promoted designs just looks really great.

So many ascots and ruffles. I guess when you have a French inspired nation it's inevitable. I find the designs I like more are the simpler ones. There are a lot that are over the top and overdone, and I feel like if they were toned down a bit they would be great. It feels like there wasn't a lot of oversight with the costume designs and they just let the designer go wild and do whatever they wanted. The good thing, though, is that if you don't like a character's outfit, in this game you can just give them a new one 😂

Zelkov is indeed playable

Diamante at the *very top* where he belongs. Easily the best designed character in engage and definitely looking forward to seeing him in action in the actual game.

Yeah Diamant is great, but his ilustration...feels lazy to me, the cape covers his whole body so we don't see anything of his body xd

I think the issue with the big armour characters is that the amour is too dull and doesn’t pop

i really like the designs in this game and i’ve been keeping up to date with all the jp trailers. after watching them i think this game has a weird thing where i feel like their casual outfits that they all wear in the somniel are waaaaay better and show off their personalities more than their battle clothes

The colour of Ivy's eyes continuously remind me of cough syrup for some reason

Just saw this now. And it hurts me how low you put Alcryst. Since Kagetsu is my favorite, I can't see him below S-tier. But I'm glad you like my cutie Rosado.

Actually, in the trailer, Anna was reclassed into a Wolf Knight and she also had a tail when in that class. It's likely just a class outfit thing and not a real tail.

These ranking videos are so fun, you both always have funny opinions. This was great to watch because I have been trying to avoid Engage reveals on social media as well, so I hadn't seen a lot of these characters so I got to play along. Honestly, I feel like the girls got more interesting designs overall with more personality than the guys. My top three girls would have to Chloe 3rd, then Lapis 2nd and Ivy 1st, I am an Ivy stan along with Glitter, I really love everything about her on a first impression. Meanwhile Diamant is leaps and bounds above all the other males for me, they knocked it out of the park with his design while no others particularly pique my interest sadly. But I am very hyped for the game and to meet them all properly! I will never hear Boucheron's name the same though, the way you've said it will be stuck in my head :)

Can you do most wanted units in Fire emblem heroes 2023.

I really like the designs for these characters! I would personally put Marni into C tier because it's just so over the top that I can't help but like it but otherwise I feel pretty much the same with everyone else. I will be creating a throuple with Diamant and Fogato and will accept no criticism at this time.

They finally gave us a unique lord with two different eye color maybe red and blue clash maybe if the blue eyes was different yellow could work but its close to kurumi from date a live. Just thought about it blue and yellow might be better than blue and red but its just me being used to a honkai character with blue and yellow eyes

Actually I havent seen any other trailers aside from the first one. Only a few screenshots of a few characters since then, with no context or anything since I plan on getting this game. That said I might not be able to get it when it releases, meaning I'd get spoiled and blah, blah, blah. Point is pretty much everyone in this video is new to me so I cant wait to see them. Edit: okey I LOVE Griss's design, as well as Diamant's, easily top tier. Rosado looks really cool too, gives me keching vibes. Dancer dude/Navarre (sry dont remember the name) looks awesome, as well as Ivy. Can't say I dislike any design tho. Also the weeds girl reminds me a lot of zero two

This vid just confirms to me how weird my taste is apparently. I would put Panette as easily my favorite design in the game, maybe even in the series. Where as I would put most of the characters you put in S into B tier.
