In time we all rode for our lives. But speedway was also our life. What kind of mood was there. And we Germans weren't that bad.

Egon, 2 Bronze medals 1981, 1982 and of course you did well in the World Pairs in 1977. You were great and I enjoyed watching you!

Yeah, great guys - but when Ole Olsen showed up, they could always hope to be no 2 - after Ole... (Sorry, as a Dane I couldn't resist)

Ole was right, those young Danes went a long way. From 1984-1989 they dominated just about everything in world championship speedway.

I thought the sound quality sounded okay...could hear the commentary loud and clear. Don't forget it was the early 80s when technology wasn't as perfect like it is today.

I remember this in the late seventies and the sounds and smells of heavenly metal Thunder

Thank You for this!!! I started going to speedway in '84. These older races are fantastic to watch!

Well not seen this for years thank you. Always like John Davis page 7 fells lol. He tried so hard in this meeting coming from the back etc. Was so unlucky with the other riders in his time. Chris Morton well unbelievable

Todays bike are easy to ride compared to back then Todays riders dont even use left leg on the bends

I remember when speedway was only second to football in fan sizes. Then it all came tumbling down...investigations on match fixing, the penhall Carter debacle....never really recovered ..so sad

Every time I see Jessup he has an engine failure.

A World Cup Final run on an absolute dung heap of a track. Whoever prepared that track should have been thrown over to the eastern side of the Berlin Wall. Anything that has the words "world" and "final" in the descriptor deserves a better racing surface than that pitiful effort.
