White diamond told his entire backstory as part of the introduction. It doesn't mean that Home world doesn't need a reminder who Steven is every now and then just because he spent two years there. Doesn't explain why it took them all that time to send the broadcast in the first place.

@@FarBeyondStrange They probably took that long because they like pampering the hell out of him like the rich aunts they are and having broadcasts in this manner when he sends one out is one of the many ways they want to show that the care for him ("hey, here's a message from the guy who changed Homeworld's entire perspective on life and is now doted on by us because *HE'S VERY SPECIAL OKAY* ) I mean, when you're an all-powerful leader of an immortal empire, you want to show love for a significant person as much as you can, right?

The message that was sent stated in the beginning that it was Pink Diamond’a son. I don’t think she needs to wonder who Steven is if she got her answer in the beginning.
