hello everyone !!! as you all know im an old grandpa when it comes to figuring out how youtube works, but im getting thru it... learnin the ropes!!! ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ i didn't even notice the amount of comments on here, or even the discussion about genshin impact! this drawing is part of my AGIOS universe, which is a sort of re-interpretation of Greek mythos along with my own personal experiences. You can read the little world bible I wrote on my site, heartmush.pink! 💖 As you can see by the upload date, the character, Ananke (or Ana), and the AGIOS universe were created around two(?) years ago, before I'd even heard of Genshin! But that's exactly one of the reasons I was so interested in the game when I started playing recently! it ticked a lot of the boxes in my "things I love to see in character design" bingo sheet ( ◜‿◝ )♡ I appreciate the people in comments who thoughtfully mentioned it might come off rude to compare one artists work to another, along with how every artist will probably have a different opinion on it, so I'm here to address it! I don't mind people to say the design reminds them of Genshin! It's honestly flattering that my art reminds you of those amazing artists and that project 🥺❤️ I think where I draw the line is if someone accuses me of copying a design, or if the tone is more rude(?) I feel like this is too vague, but I'm not sure how to explain it... Anyways! I didnt see any comments I found rude! Or maybe I didn't read all of it; as you know I'm grandpa on youtube. that would be logical huh. In real life you don't use more than 1 brush either. Maybe a fine brush extra but that's about it

yea most artists prefer using one brush for this style, tho occasionally some also use the airbrush

To make it a messy lineless artstyle I provably would color on a layer above the lineart, and let some of the lines show underneath

Same same. But i end up painting over a lineart that i can't take off and it annoys me

There several things you could try. 1) Try drawing lines with the color of the object instead of using 1 color (which is usually black). 2) color the lineart when you finish adding color. 3) Use cell-shading (is this how it’s called?..) and try do lineless coloring (nadiaxel has a great tutorial on that). Hope you’ll get the results you want! And yes, a lot of artists use a regular round brush with or without pressure sensitivity

I know y’all mean it as a compliment, but please don’t compare this to Genshin. What it says to an artist is “this is unoriginal” and it’s also rude to bring up other artists without reason.

I don't think it is. Pointing out a similarity with another piece of work should not be rude or out or place. This is an artistic environment and letting the artist know that something reminded of something else is a nice way to introduce them to concepts they might be interested in and look into them.

@@prsl-qy5mt Honestly it depends on the artist :O but in most cases telling an artist that their own original character looks like another character can be discouraging to them, bc making and designing a unique character is hard yk? It’s especially frustrating if the artist already knows of said concepts. Like Chewycat said, it’s basically telling the artist that “This is unoriginal”

@@prsl-qy5mt to follow up on what Nemui said, it also has to do with moderation. If a few people are pointing it out it’s usually cool. If everyone’s doing it, it’s annoying. Imagine composing an original piece of music with no influences and everyone unanimously agrees that it sounds exactly like Beethoven. Doesn’t feel nice right? Just don’t do it. It’s basic artist etiquette

It's not always rude per se, but most of the time it's better left unspoken. Some of us have _been_ in artist communities, crap happens all the time

that is a beautiful art style. i love the colors and the way you make the “messy” colors and lineart work together well. it reminds me of painting traditionally. i also love the character, their design is so detailed and pretty!! 💖

I think it's ok to do since it also informs the artist of things that are similar to what they're doing, which may serve as a source of inspiration later on. What I mean is it's not bad or rude to point out similarities.
