Glad i saw this vid before i fitted mine. I have bought the exact same stator coil as the on in your vid... the one off of the scooter fits better and has 8 instead of 6 coils. the site said it fitted speefights with or without immobilisers.

thanks for replying and you might be my copy because we have the same first name lol. I have a few speedfight and not a fan but some go like a bat out of he'll and some well are more trouble than that. but I like fixing and mot in them.i will try and see if that cures the problem. my honda camino didn't cause me none of this haha.pity I sold it a few months ago after enjoying it for 5 years. but I love 2 strokes so it shows my age and I've liked video.

thanks for that and your right there's no reason to it, i've had some that I have up jetted race clutch variator belt exhaust and it will still not do more that 40 and other that hammer down the road with only a few change of the jet , same name ? well my dad was a lorry driver so you never know lol

I couldn't see the orientation of them on the video as too far away. Where the center of the coils go on to the shaft, on one side there's a recess & the other side is flat. So is it the recessed side that goes onto the shaft first? I fitted the other day & turned the engine over but the magneto was wobbling! Sorry if I'm not explaining too well 😕

Great video I recently bought a vivacity 50cc I charge the battery and the dashboard and lights only come on every so often plus I'm getting no spark at all could all that be down to bad wiring?

Hi Mark just got a Peugeot speedfighter2 100 and the lights wasn't working so changed the rectifier and still nothing wasn't till I watched your video is could be the stator coil so I've taken it off to have a look and it's in bad shape so I'm just wondering where can you buy a new one from ? i have a ludix blaster rs12 and everything is working fine apart from i have to go down a slight hill for my bike to open up fully and actually go fast do you know why thats happening am air and fuel is fine it doesn't bog or anything and goes up hills fine its just when am on a flat road it wont gain much speed till i go down a little hill then it starts taking off

Its good to hear they help I'd say it's your stator coil as when they get hot they can go to earth and not give you the power you need to start However start with the good old service so plug and air filter clean carb Prob all ready done that but had to say it Next check all electrics so ht lead and coil Wd40 all connects You can drop test the power from the stator first , well worth doing Like this video on stator coil and often just need a good clean Hope that helps :)

Hello, I watched all of your videos. Very informative. I have a problem that I can't seem to fix and can't seem to find a similar issue anywhere online. I've been told that the issue has to do with the timing. Apparently, the exhaust port is open when the ignition is firing making it loud. really loud. too loud to ride. And the sound is not coming from the exhaust it's coming from the manifold, carb, area. Almost like a backfire noise. It starts just fine. it idles just fine. it's very boggy when revved but that's most likely due to the carb not being tuned yet. It is a 2004 Yamaha Zuma 50 with all new performance parts. Malossi RHQ Crankshaft Zuma 50cc -10mm- Stage6 Dellorto RACING MKII 21mm- Cylinder kit Stage6 racing aluminum 70cc-10mm- Polini Final Drive Gear Set Zuma 13/44 Dr. Pulley Clutch & Bell Kit Zuma 50- Yasuni "Scooter R" Zuma 50cc Exhaust - Malossi Zuma 50cc Intake Manifold 22mm- Stage6 V-Force3 Reed Valve- Everything is Brand new and I sent it all to Team Calamari / Zumas R' us in California to have it all installed properly. I'm so fed up with this project as it has been months longer than planned. so. currently, I'm down to the Stator & flywheel. I have all the tools needed. What are your thoughts, any insight would be helpful as I am about to push this thing off of a cliff here soon. Oh. Also, Another note is that before I sent it to have them install all these parts I did not have a flywheel puller at the time so I tried getting the flywheel off with a screwdriver "dumb ass move on my part" But in doing that I cut the red and white ignition wire of the stator. I let Zuma's r' us know and they soldered the wire back with heat shrink. My guess is that they may not have set the correct timing when re-assembling it. I just don't know anymore.

hi well ok I've not worked on one but really good to hear you watched and like my videos there are a lot loltiming is on the outside of the stator fly wheel electrics on the in side, I guess if your timing was out it just would run at all or run very badly !cutting wires more likely may have damage your CDI? as you say they have now been re connected and heat sealed , make you wonder if the job was done correctly and only having a look will sort this however ok I'd go for carb every time as sounds like too much fuel and maybe be causing the banging ??just a guess so go for air petrol mix and have you upgraded the spark plug often forgot about as you could try a hotter plug so go up one number so the plug can get hotter and still run ok, just a thought hope this lot may help and keep going sure your will sort it . mark

94f1senna ha ha I'm a copy , first have a look at your front bulbs make sure they are 35w and not 55w then yes it can along with bad connectors use a bit of wd40 if that and the bulbs doesn't fix it use a colt meter see what it's kicking out , if low take off and clean first then maybe change , give that all a go and please like and share my. You can use a 6 8. Are a 11 poll stator for 11 poll you have to get a flywheel for 11poll and long as you got the same wiring I upgrade from 6 to 11poll work better more spark just make sure if you got dc r ac

Afternoon Mark, I could do with a little help bud i have a problem with an 08 plate speedfight 2 LC that is running fine but flattening the battery, ive checked voltage at the battery when running and its anywhere from 12v down to 6v as the battery flattens so i checked the regulator and there's nothing coming out of it so i checked the stator and there is nothing coming out of that so by deduction it must be the stator but if its generating a spark to run then it must be working so is it the pick up thats faulty? cheers .. hi bud thanks for watching no the stator coil has two jobs one for the timing and the other to the power for the electrics you can have a faulty stator that's going to earth so you get some power out put but it's all over the place, first check all the connectors and wd40 them and then check if still no good take it off like in my videos and give it a good clean if after all that you have to replace it's not a big job really but I'd porb change the power regulator too hope that helps please like share and sub mark

Hi mark couple questions 1st how would you recommend running in a new piston and barrel an 2nd when I put my key in the ignition an turn on my bike is starting with just start botton without using brake what could that be ?

ok bud 1st once all back together and as in my videos you have coated a little 2t oil in the bore just let it tick over for 10 mins then off and again 15 mins and take for a slow test ride not full throttle lol just take it easy and clock up the miles hit 30 mph and up a little then back to 30 and so . clock up a good 50 miles that should be fine, check why the piston went in the first place bud that will be a big help to stop it going again lol, 2nd is your brake light always on ? I guess it is as the micro switch should stop you from starting it unless the brake lever is press!!, take off the clock fairing and check out what's going on there bud, thanks for watching my videos some should help with what I've just said . please like share and subscribe , mark

Hi I Just brought a speed fighter 2 for a project and the electric start and kick start stopped working at the same time any clue what this could be? Thought it would be worth a ask. Kick start jammed and electric start just won’t do anything thanks.

check the bendix bud take it out and free it up and check the kick down cog, wd40 the electric start and see if it spins once you take out the dendix

Hi Mark. I've just bought a kisbee 100 to sell on. It needs a stator coil as it's not charging. but it also won't turn off once running. Have you come across this fault before? Cheers Andy.

I had it where it wouldn't turn off on one of my Yamaha scooters. It was a wide for the stator had come undone. It uses this wire to kill the engine.

And can you put a side stand with the main stand together or you need to take off the main stand? And if I buy one would I be able to put it on the main stand..?

Yes and yes lol You can fit a side stand on there are holes for it and you still can use the main stand

Hi. My scooter lights works well but it starts up hard and when it starts it goes blub blub blub. I changed the spark plug and it had a black spot over it when I took it out to test it . The bike when it starts wants to run but it goes blub blub. Can you give any advice on what the problem can be I also cleaned the carburetor. The adjustment screw is capped off also.

I noticed here the other day when i was out for a ride on my SF2 when it was a bit darker outside, that every time another light comes on, break or blinkers, the headlight lose about 30% of it´s power. It´s like the stator can´t deliver enough to run both headlight and break light/blinker at the same time. Is it normal for these bikes or are my stator knackered?

It does happen and can be a few things Wrong main bulb ,they are 35 with now 55/60 Have a look Next yes stator but it might just need a clean up before you buy a new one But don't forget the power regulator !! This can have the same result and need changing Last and simple Bad earths , clean all and may help

I know this is an old vid but my speedfight 2 is driving me mad. I have a intermittent spark. Sometimes it sparks, other times it dont at all. Cdi is fine (grey type) , ht coil is fine just not sure on the stator, would a bad stator cause it to give up sparking sometimes ?? It runs completly fine when its started though.

every moped and bike has this stator and can be the cause if you battery is good and power regulator ok its going to be the stator sometimes it can only need a clean but normally a replacement is needed but worth checking the other things 1st and the wiring use a volt meter to test power out put

Mark would a failing stator course my lights to be dim. All lights work they are just very dim, and for example if I unplug the rear (tail light) the front light seem to be at full brightness and i plug it back in then the go dim again, if any of that makes any sense I'd appreciate abit of input👍🏻

More like your power regulator !, its under you front fairing so the upper floor panel has to come up Seat bucket out etc Its lots of panels of but part it cheap Change that first If no better then yes it can cause this Take off like in my videos and clean or replace

Gerard Graauwmans hi bud I would go for the carb to start with it maybe the float not filling up so start with that and give it a good clean and test the vacuum as in my other video , if it still does it then maybe the stator coil ! , it's ac you say so as long as the fan and. Cover on the engine is on getting hot is not an issue at the moment unless it was water cooled , hope that helps mate , please like and share ' mark

As you know the number of poles are easy to see but magnets in the fly wheel can be checked by running a screwdrivers along the inside surface that should have been cleared of rust . So my point [ no expert here people ] is the fly wheel can fit perfect but still needs one magnet per pole. The 3 phase stators l can give even less advice, just a polite reminder stators may look identical but have varying magnet orientation .lol.

Hi Mark, I have a Peugeot Elystar 50 TSDI and it wont start. I have spark, I checked the injector and it sprays gasoline like from a syringe (is that normal?), could be the compression? Is it possible to not giving spark when is supposed? sorry for my poor english. Thank you in advance -Ben

it could be a few things bud so let start you have spark and its a good blue spark, not orange the plug get wet when you turn it over? the injection system can play up and often does, it should be more like a spray not a jet ! this bike will have a cdi and these can also play up on injection systems power output from stator? pistons go all the time but you cant do the hand over carb test so you wont know unless you do a compression test but I have seen ok compression but the piston has still been damaged! lots of work to do bud sorry to say and I have had the most problems with injection moped/scooter etc like the sr50 as in my video on here mark

stator coil no it has to fit like in my video please watch it and I have a few others on how to do it maybe watch them or you can damage it, normal coil / ht lead also no wires have to go on with green to green. mark

My speed fighter 2 key ain't chunky like that 100cc 08 plate got problem with it started making crunching noise so turns it of then try start it won't even turn over makes like a air gun drill noise any ideas what this is noise was coming from where kick start is kick don't work btw any idea what this is?

Liam Crawford had bud , take the kick start cover off , it could be the variator but has come off or the bendix is not coming out , give that a look first , then we can move on but otherwise could be piston failure but start simple bud , there a few videos that will help if you look at my other 50 odd , please like share and subscribe bud , mark

to be honest it can be a few things parts loose , exhaust , fan , even piston slap , it will drive you mad but use the old screw driver trick on the engine to hear it or where ever it is coming from bud

Peter Mcclements are you sure you only have on cdi ? Some also have a oil cdi ! , anyway if you have power coming from the stator check power coming out and then tithe cdi and back to ht coil ? I have bought a new cdi before and that's been faulty ? Worth a check Mark

Mark good morming I hope you see this message well last night I move and shake the wires to the stator on aerox as they go in to the engine top of engine the bike would cut and and drop I. Revs I found a few-connections lose I cut and Rewire them now if the stator coil is breaking down my battery isn’t charging and I’m getting like missfire no back fire on full throttle when I shock them wore my bike revs drop and there was a back fire what are the symptom when they break down would it course missfire and splutter

Yes bud I'd be changing it as if the wires are that loose it's not good Check out this video and I have a few others on this bike too kzread.info/dash/bejne/aG2nm7OsiaawgM4.html They short out and will cause this with no charging and missing

hi bud thanks for watching , i have many many videos on speedfight that will help you just have to find them on here best sit on a computer as then you can find all of the and there are about 80 on speedfights as for the size there only two and 100cc are bigger than the 50cc along with the clutch and belt, sorry not got one to measure mark

hi Chris ok bud no spark !, 99% of the time no spark is the CDI unit. check which one you have as in my other cdi videos, if you have a power meter check if you have power coming from your stator if so then that's all ok then see if you have power going to your ht coil if not then cdi. change that then you should be all sorted to get it going again hope that helps bud thanks for watching my videos and happy they help please like share and subscribe mark

christopher fluck hi Next video to watch with no spark will be to start with the cdi but check if you have power to the coil maybe check you have re plugged in the stator coil or not damaged it if not then it will be the cdi Give them a watch and hope that helps and please watch my free t shirt video Mark

sounds more like carb problems, have a look at my video cleaning / servicing carb it could be the float not letting petrol in, or stator coil going to earth but start with the carb and a nice new ngk plug. and thanks for watching hope the videos help there are 50 of them lol

Hi mark just tried putting my new stator on. I put the pick up on but for some reason when i put the flywheel on the pickup is close to the flywheel to the point where it won’t even move. Any help would be appreciated. I’m working on it now.

I’ve replaced the coil and it’s positioned fine. When I turn the flywheel it’s turns alright but just after the compression stroke it’s like a magnet is stopping it from rotating unless I use some force. The stator and everything else looks fine so doesn’t make sense. You know when you kick it and it continues to rotate a little after you’ve stopped kicking,well mine doesn’t do that. Any advice please

@@JaysScript it doesnt sound right Take off place the old one in the housing to see how it looks Take it out and place in the new one If It all looks ok Then something is really odd When off does it all turn ok? Old one back on turn ok then new one and see what's going on without the housing ?

Hi how's it's going I got a nice speedfight 2 100cc yesterday only £80 !! Fixed it and running now but I wanted to know what size jet should be in the carb not that it's a bad thing but this bike goes like a rocket lol almost like it's to fast I'm they have put a bigger carb on it

they do go well if you get a good one, I've had 80 out of one before easy lol, norm about 82 but if it's running and running well bud I'd not play with it , if it ant broke bud don't fix it lol , only thing they don't sell well as the 50cc and don't get as much money !!

well you think it's 2t and you can get 50 mph odd out of a 50cc lol, but I have to say at hi speed you don't feel that safe as they are only little peds lol

cool, if it has a sport exhaust maybe the wadding has gone hard ( done a video on that) ( well I think I've done a video on everything for a speedfight lol ) and it won't pass an mot it it's too loud! if standard maybe it cracked somewhere lol

Antony Sweet could be the fuel tap it self ! Test take pipes off suck the air pipe and put the petrol pipe in a bowl stop sucking and the fuel should stop do this a few times if it doesn't it the tap , give that a go bud , mark

Mark savage I have problem with my fuel level indicator on my SF2.When I'm driving in some situations indicator is flickering and if I press brake(front or rear,doesn't matter)in that moment indicator falls down completly then when I leave brake it comes back to normal.What you think that is,probably problem with positive and ground. Also about month ago I was in shop.When I got to the scooter I put the key and it didn't wanted to start.All three indicators were at bottom and didn't move,so I thought that battery is dead.I started it on kick and get home.Then I used the multimeter and the battery was in perfect condition.After that I put key in,then watch on multimeter-everything normal,and then I press the brake and in that moment multimeter showed zero.So that was reason why it didn't wanted to start,of course I need to press brake to start it.I pressed brakes 6-7 times and then all came back to normal,but problem with flickering is not solved.

Ja Ti your on the right track bud defo wiring prob , check earth maybe connect another earth to the battery to the frame , then have a look at the loom around the head area as it maybe split or touching another wiring , it's a long tracing job but needs to be done , try wd40 all the connection that should help too , mark

hi mark i also have a speedfight 2......never encountered such a problem like the one i am facing now.it all started with no spark so i done the usual procedure and found nothing. the day after i check again and without doing nothing the it was the spark.... then after 2 days it did it again. so checked the stator and voltage was so low pulse.3 and chaging 3v so i changed it.....no luck.anyway parts are cheap so i changed the cdi and plug and coil......still bloody no success. so i started again by putting the oldparts in beczuse i thought maybe they were defective. when i put the old stator in tried again and it sparked once !!!!!!!! and thatsit no more more sparks......put the new one i and again it did it sparked once and no more.....bit confused m8 now...mine is non immobilised.

wow , has to be the loom mate to be ok one min then not the next so all panels off and check all the wiring and plug , but I guess it's a earth prob, is your battery ok? have you changed the stator coil ?? this also could be you problem and well worth a check. thanks for watching my videos please like and share, thanks mark

so yes the coil i changed and is doing exactly the same as the old one. it will spark once after install and thats it. to explain better if i go right now to the garage and change to the old stator i am sure it will do it again spark once and that`s it.yes obvious new plug and coil as well. wiring hmmmm tried another earth to the engine no success. tried another earth from battery to the point where all the green wires are connected togther and no successtried a direct earth from coil to battery no success. tried to change the yellow/black wire from coil to cdi and no success. and onestly i am lost with no more ideas...the only thing i havent change is the flywheel but i did not change it cause i never heard that a flywheel could loose its charge. and by d way batterry is fine as well...

this must be driving you crazy !! so ok back to the stator coil you cleaned it and it is the right on and you cleaned the out cover ?, if all ok back to the cdi? which one is it as there are 4 as in my video on cdi's . mark

hi mark. today checked carefully what kind of voltages am getting from stator coil. the new one i am getting less than 1volt !!!! could it possibly be a faulty new stator coil ?? the only way to check i think is to buy another one...

you must have power drain somewhere bud or its not charging use a volt meter to see if the stator coil is working and changing or the power drine could be unlucky with a dud battery

Oh yea the 100cc parts are really hard to get bud Best check out eBay sellers or speedfight parts But you can get them rewound!

Hi bud So you have a immob cdi No spark and you checked stator has power Ht lead power ? Then cdi will need bypass unit

thats not good to contiue that as too many amp's, i have a video on the staqrter system and it will be the same for all bikes so maybe give it a watch. it shows from the mirco switch at the lever to th relay then to the start, one of them has failed bud please like and sub mark

When I start my speedfight it's all normal and then I hear like clicking from the cylinder what could it be? And when I rew it it stops the clicking and then a few seconds or 1 min later it starts clicking again.

I was once told by q young lad this was piston slap , worn piston ! It can be a few other things like the bendix as they can tap on the outer part of the variator and what id say it was Take off the cover and clean up the bendix Or might even be the fan Have it on the stand and have a good look and listen bud

@@marksavage if I'm gonna take off the cylinder head is there a gasket? And if acn I put the same one back when I'm putting on the cylinder head. And can I clean the pistons top and the cylinder sides? So it's clean?

@@raivisvjaksa4686 you can use the same gasket if you dont damage it getting it off Maybe a littke bit of gasket seal if you have Otherwise get a new one Piston no leave the carbon but best change it if damaged

No key bud They are immobiliser and you will need the key of a bypass unit which will be hard to get hold of Try see if you can get a 2nd set again very hard Or re wire another cdi All a bit of a bugger bud sorry to say !!

Excellent i had he 70cc kit on my last engine and had nothing but problems camshaft bearings and oil seals have gone on it now so got a second hand 1 with 4000 miles for a steel. Would a battery that dont hold charge stop indicators from blinking i dint think it would so i got a new relay and still not blinking any idea

I have speedfight2 LC so where is the stator?

Hey Mark love your vids. I learned alot! I however have a little problem with mine (AC version). or the past 5000 miles or so it has had a rattle ver similar to the one in this video kzread.info/dash/bejne/gYusp6Och8-8kqw.htmlm34s. I have taken out the kickstarter mechanism, tightened the stand, tried different variators (polini one and stock one), tried different clutches and pulleys, took out the bendix, but none of that made the rattle go away either. I have yet to mess around with the other side of the engine, but I'm really hoping it isn't the bearings or something. Could it be the fan?

Sebastian B you have done most of the things it normally is like the bendix , best put it on the stand with a inch flat piece wood to make sure the wheel is off the floor and hold the front brake and have a good listen around !! Might even be a rattle from the exhaust ? Or suspension ? But try that bud , thanks for the comment good to know my videos help all I ask is to like share and subscribe Mark

Mine was the main bearings going due to no oil. My oil pump had failed and there was old oil in the tank. I recommend pre mixing at 40:1 with motul 2t, then diagnose the oil pump system. Always run at 40:1 even if that pump is working as ppl forget stuff learn from my mistake

oh god I have no idea bud sorry to say, I take it you have lost yours?, there are so few parts for the 100cc i'm guessing it will be hard to find one not to say how did you lose it in the first place? you maybe able to make one as long as it stop in and stops the stator from moving out of timing thanks for watching mark

mark savage ... i didnt loose it i forgot all about it and put the fly wheel on nice and tight and squished it :) its now stuck in and not catching the flywheel.. im thinking if it is worth buying a set of ebay and just finding one that fits?.. the size of woodruff key is not in the manual too :/ ... love your videos by the way, watched all of them! the only person i watch for my speedfight! keep up the good work!

thanks bud its good to hear my videos help, i'd jam make shift woodruff key in there as long as they line up with the two grooves otherwise it will be out of timing and not run! you maybe lucky to get one off e bay I guess it's worth a go mark

ive managed to get my old woodruff key out, used a large flat head screwdriver on its thin side and a hammer, just be very carefull not to hit it too hard or you will bend your crank.. the size of the woodruff key is aprox: 3mm x 5mm x 13mm.. i think this will be the same size for a 50cc

New stator is for a 50cc that speed fight must be 100cc

Stop wedging screwdrivers, put 2 8mm bolts that are longer back in the flywheel and the use a bar. It's way easier and doesn't break anything, if you look you can see he has cracked the case

this was just show how i was doing this many years ago but it works , it works bud so if you don't like it don't do it i have 100 videos helping 1000s , you can do the same and help try it bud you might feel less know it all and help

bypass cdi ,,,lol

I couldn't see the orientation of them on the video as too far away. Where the center of the coils go on to the shaft, on one side there's a recess & the other side is flat. So is it the recessed side that goes onto the shaft first? I fitted the other day & turned the engine over but the magneto was wobbling! Sorry if I'm not explaining too well 😕

ness H hi I do have another video on it but the wires go to the rear so the timing part feeds into the slot , it only has two bolts and should not move at all!! That would be very bad !! Make sure it's tight and the cover goes on tight too in the right place ! , turn over by hand to make sure all is ok and working , mark

Hi again Mark. i was looking for the values of the stator ...mine reads 530 ohm , and it sparks, but i dont think its doing it under preassure . i could have bought a whole new scooter already . everything is wrong with this one . can you tell med the speedfight values ? i would apreaciate it

not from hand bud maybe google that info, it does two things power for the moped and ignition timing they do fail so have you had it off, best take it off and you can clean them up as they get very dirty so give that a go first then you may need to change it

BUT i need to learn these scooters as i am from 1978 and back then we all drove yamaha or puch ....you know that time right . matthew whitaker a good battery will be the best they are only around £16 and easy to fit , and yes bud replace that as well and it should all help stop the bulbs blowing or even another earth to the frame , mark
