Speed Sculpting a Head in zBrush Tutorial
Hopefully not too long winded, I tried to speed up the boring parts. If anybody would like a more in depth video let me know!

I learnt sooooo much from this. Really amazing tutorial. Every stroke that mattered you said why you were doing and that made all the difference, really cool techniques and very well conveyed. Not often I watch a video like this and get so inspired. Big thanks.
I wish you would show your hotkeys on the screen when you are using them. Other than that, neat tutorial.
The render at the beginning of the video. Kinda reminds me of the material/style Borderlands uses :) Great tut man!
Enjoyed your video very much Nick...... Thank you for posting this All the best to you, and I look forward to your next post. Lou
This is a great tutorial! Thank you very much! perfect natural detail around the mouth
I've been looking for a tutorial like this for so long, to see the actual face sculpting pipeline with very nice and clear explanations. Thanks man, this is a tutorial I would actually pay for :) Any plans for indepth body/hard surface? Would looove to see those. Thanks again!

Cool tutorial you helped me think of volume in the face. one thing i'd say is it cudda been good to see how the ears are made but you covered enough. thx
Thanks for sharing! Really useful!
Wow, epic. And free, great start!! That style is easier to learn, less about the strokes, more about the proportions
Great tutorial mate. Thanks heaps!
Love this! Thanks for the tutorial :D!!!
dude, thanks very much, it is very useful.
Just as a point of trivia, the sternocleidomastoid is so called because of the bones it runs from and to. Mastoid process, clavicle, sternum.

hey guys. im trying to understand the whole process of making a game and what goes into developing one. my question is, i want to make a character for the UE4 and im wondering if zbrush could allow me to make a character and import onto UE4 with animation? will there be any difficulties in doing this or should i use a different program to design a character to animate it?
@J3WT00B

need a program like Maya, 3ds max, or blender to animate. zbrush can do the rest :-)

zbrush is for modeling, painting, and retopology. Blender is for rigging and animation. Watch my rapid character work flow video, it may give you some good insight on the process

why your eyelashes are already in their form and they aren't in tube form? When I use CurveTube brush, I must use "shift" to smooth. But if I change position of eyelashe, return to tube form. I don't know why. You are so fast in this operation .

I didn't know you were able to model in ZBrush. I thought you had to model in something else, and use ZBrush for the finishing touches.

Dynamesh and ZSphere mean you can remain exclusively in Zbrush to get your base mesh and then sculpt from there. Dynamesh means you don't have to worry about topology much.
It really was very good but its creation is not looking to her lips and eyes do not have the same format, but it was cool.

but how about the mouth? isnt it attached together? or do i have to manually separate them? i hope i am not asking too much.. the eye lashes when it comes to rigging confuses me a bit..
@BannedIP
8 жыл бұрын
knight2battle The inside of mouth with the teeth? It doesnt have to be attached, it will be skinned to "jaw bone" for lower part and "Bone Head" for the upper mouth. The eye lashes are separate, can be simple planes with alpha skinned to the bones responsible for the upper and lower eye lid movement - they move simultaneously.
do you use a mouse or some sort of drawing pad?

Do you use a tablet to sculpt or just a mouse?
@debmalyamitra353
7 жыл бұрын
hi there i think i might help you...i use a mouse and i can sculpt well...just make sure you don't add a lot of subdivisions at the start...just block out features using move, dam. standard and clay brush....use dam. standard at low strength to know where details will be placed...as you go up in subdivisions add gradual detail using claybuildup...and at final stage use alphas if you need for xtra detail...and use a basemesh that makes things quick... Good luck..👍👍

Leaving out your hotkeys makes impossible to follow along. Shame, cause otherwise this is informative.
kind of looks like justin bieber hahahahahahahahahaahah
You didn't talk about skull, you didn't talk about proportion, you didn't talk about where things should be align. This is not a good tutorial. It lacks a lot of information for a beginner to understand how sculpting a head should actually be done
Not much of a tutorial, you should be explaining keys you're hitting while you're working.

there are differences between novice, intermediate, and advanced tutorials. This tutorial is between intermediate and advanced. Stop complaining everytime something is not aimed at you as primary audience. The creator just assumed his main audience would know the basics of the software. If you dont know the basics, go watch and learn the very basics of the software (shortcuts) before going into more advanced stuff, in this case, shaping correctly.
