Speed Rotoscoping using Mocha
In this Quick tip you will learn how to use Mocha and its Planar Tracking to help you to quickly create some great roto mattes. You can then quickly and easily import these mattes into Nuke for further work or use them directly in your comp.
Mocha is a powerful planar tracker and knowing how to use it should be part of every compositors skill set. Even though Nuke has its own Planar Tracker there are many times where Mocha will work better for certain scenarios in the same way Nuke's Planar tracker is better at certain situations so knowing both is very important..

Hi there, there are many ways to approach rotoscoping tasks, many of the best results would always include breaking your roto shapes down into smaller pieces and attaching them to trackers, for example for a person you could track his left ear, then create a rotoshape just for that ear, then do the right then do pieces of his head depending on where you can get a track etc and follow this process for the whole of the person. To get the track you can use a traditional tracker or planar tracking.

Yes I did, but once I have all my masks done, is there a way to do some rotoscoping without using Nuke ? Like tell Mocha "OK, mask that and duplicate it", in After Effects for example ? :)

i have a question :) what would be the easiest way to track a moving person? I have after effects and mocha for ae. I was wondering if there was less painstaking way about it than the obvious.

createfxUK A version of Mocha comes with Hitfilm Ultimate 2 not certain of the process if its similar or not. I assume the process is the same but of the process of inserting an image onto the video. You give brief description but would you please recommend a step by step tutorial?
