    Ken's Nid scheme looks amazing! They're a bit more reminiscent of the xenomorph than GW's usual schemes and the small bits of colour make them pop out. Would love to see some more of Ken's schemes. If this is a taste of the cool stuff that comes from his mind then more definitely does not hurt.

    This is so similar to the color scheme I did as a child, but just... Elevated. I've been bashing my head against how I was going to paint up my nids for the last week, and I think I'm going to combine my old scheme with this in an homage to my childhood. Thanks for that!

    That's awesome. Honestly for an army paint, I'd probably stop right after matting the pigment, and then just hit the eyes with a green, and skip the in-between for most grunt models. The effectiveness is incredible for how straight forward the steps are. Love the idea of smashing pigment into the carapace segments. I'm 100% going to reference this order of operations whenever I settle on a color scheme

    Texturing with Tamiya plastic putty is an old tank modeler trick to simulate the rough texture of casted turrets and tank parts. I use it on all my Guard vehicles. Being a bit of a perfectionist I don't think I want to do on hundreds of carapaces though 😰

    I found your channel a month ago and I've been absolutely absorbing it. This is definitely a scheme I'm going to try to do myself as someone new to the hobby! My friend and I split the leviathan box as a way to get into the hobby and this is exactly the kind of way I'd love to do my Tyranids. If you're looking for ideas I'd LOVE to see your take on Grimdark Tau - I got the Tau Combat Patrol and I'm struggling with inspiration. Loved the army painting of Nids + Space Wolves and your Sisters series as well.

    Thanks Henry @cultofpaint for sharing this tutorial video. Literally got me back in to the hobby after a long hiatus! Two quick questions / recipe requests: 1) What colour did you use on the bases underneath the pigments (dark grey and then a mid grey highlight?) 2) I noticed the Tyranid Prime in the photo montage and am wondering how you did the wings and what the recipe was if you’re open to sharing that? Thanks so much in advance.

    Sometimes a fully painted army is better than a half painted army to a better standard. I only ever go to my local gw occassionaly and its rare to see a painted army, always swarms of grey. So even if individual models arent spectacular, those with finished armies always look much cooler on the table

  • @cultofpaint

    @cultofpaint

    airbrush thinner and the ratio will change paint to paint, There's no golden rule. Start at 1:1 and adjust as you need. In this particular video the only time paint was thinned to go through the airbrush was the Ironrach Skin.

  • @cultofpaint

    @cultofpaint

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes, as I say in the video a0.4mm needle/nozzle. It is what our signature series infinity comes loaded with. You could try reducing your pressure or moving the brush further away from the model to help prevent them running away on the model. Equally don't spray one area for too long.

    Pick up some military modelling tank guides/articles/videos. They'll often do different texturing effects before paint. Or search for Blanchitsu on social media and many hobbyists that paint in that style have their own takes on it too.
