Love the scheme and how you present it! Would love to see some lighter rusty mechanicum painted with brush!

Fantastic result altogether - dangerously tempting to start an army with this quick scheme!

Hey Mr. Medders, How do you use the Army Painter Gloss varnishes through the airbrush? I’ve been doing 40 psi with a 0.5mm needle. And a third with airbrush thinner and it’s not nearly as shiny as in your videos.

When painting the green with the dry brush, was the technique you were using over brushing?

Great video! How much does the dark blue tone stain a bright silver? I am considering using it over platemail metal colour primer to tint my Necrons slightly towards blue to make them a little more interesting. My hobby funds and rime is limited so I am speedpainting and prefer not to buy more paints than neccesary 😅

The figure and paint job looks very good, kudos, but I'm not sure if it might be a bit too weathered. HH isn't as grimdark as 40k is, the societal and technological regression isn't as bad, so I feel like they'd take better care of their gear back then.

HH stuff is supposed to look grimdark because first off, it's like the Forgeworld style and the artwork, and second, because the Legions and Mechanicum were subjected to many brutal and terribly long battles of attrition where they didn't have time to maintain their gear according to army standards from day to day. The Siege of Terra, for example, lasted a very long time and they couldn't always refit and refurbish their stuff.

I was curious, if i want to use oil paints on top of acrylics (like you did in that White Scars jetbike video) do I need to to gloss varnish before using the oils? Asking because i dont own an airbrush and cant even find a rattle can of gloss v.

If the surface is matt, the oil wash bleeds into the flat areas, it doesn't really stay in the recesses. It doesn't flow easily into them either. At least that's my experience.

No. Oil paint and white spirit do not interact chemically with acrylic paint. As long as the acrylic is fully dried and cured, it'll be fine. Varnish is useful for altering the finish - gloss if you want the oil to only flow into recesses, matt if you want the oil to also act as a filter over the raised areas, satin somewhere in the middle. If you're rubbing off the acrylic paint when you apply or clean up the oils, you're either rubbing far too hard or the acrylic isn't fully cured.
