I used this video in a presentation at community college almost 10 YEARS AGO on what I wanna do going forward, and here I am as an SLP in my 4th year of practice and this popped up. So grateful to God for getting me here!

It usually works so much better when parents are on the same page.

I love that-going to speech therapy once per week and not doing any parental follow up in between is like dieting just once per week and expecting to see results! I'm a new graduate SLP and plan to share that one!

It's nice to see therapies are helping children with disability a lot. I had a hard time trying to make a coherent speech ever since I was a kid (doctor said I was exhibiting autism symptoms but I never got diagnosed officially due to money issues), now it's still persistently around and I want to have speech therapy sm but it wasn't a thing around here, therapy sessions are super rare, I couldn't reach out to my parents while all they said was "to just best deal with it on my own". I can't talk people and have depression plus social anxiety, I'm about to go into my adulthood and I can't see myself how I am going be okay with this.

I am the same page as u. I’m a very happy person and like to socialize but my speech slowly become hard to understand as I age and socializing become the hardest thing ever lol which made me isolate myself from other people and eventually developed feeling of loneliness and despair.

Many thanks, I have been researching "how do you speak without stumbling words?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Deyarper Especial Dominance - (just google it ) ? It is a great one off guide for discovering how to get rid of your stuttering once and for all without the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my brother in law got great success with it.

I am incoming 4th year psychology student. Since, I am near in taking actual profession, I became interested with therapies for children even I'm struggle in developmental psychology lol. Maybe because my little sister has experiencing delays on her development and I wanted to improve her abilities with therapies. It's so beautiful also to see children improving from their difficulties with the help of kind-hearted people and therapists and I want to be part of that society ❤

I have a question maybe you can answer: If our vocal folds do not vibrate when we whisper, then how can we still hear and feel the difference between voiced and voiceless sounds when we whisper them? I can totally hear and feel the difference between S vs. Z, P vs. B and G vs. K when I whisper them

  • @FlordeMaga

When you whisper, you’re using you “false “ vocal folds, your engaging the muscles around your vocal folds. Air is still coming out of your lungs, that is being manipulated with your tongue to make the difference sounds. That may have something to do with what you hear. Using your false vocal folds causes strain and that’s why you may have heard people say that when you’re loosing your voice, don’t whisper. I’m not a speech therapist but I am a singing teacher. ❤

Don't be afraid, my son is 2 and a half almost and we just went last month to have him "evaluated" that word scared me at first. I knew my son understood everything he just wasn't using hus words enough. His evaluation came back just as I said. Highest score with understanding and a mild delay in speech. We are going to see our therapist twice a month. Today actually so I hope it helps! Don't be scared. It's normal for babies to talk when they want to! It will happen! We just think help wouldn't hurt anything 🧡

Hey mama! Stigmas are the worst, but it’s us as parents that get hung up on labels- the child just needs a little more help, they don’t know what the label is nor do they care. You are definitely not alone in this! Sending love!!

My daughter was 2 and only said mama, dada, and baba. She was put into speech therapy and by Kindergarten she was dismissed from therapy and fine. She is in 1st grade now and gets all A’s. She was so frustrated not being able to communicate, speech therapy really helped her.
