I don't get it: according to System Sensor's website their Spectralert Advance-series chime/strobes were only ever sold with no lettering (for some reason), yet quite a few of the chime/strobes in this video DO have fire lettering. Only way I can figure how that was done was by swapping the circuitry from the original blank housing to one from a horn/strobe that has fire lettering on it (but of course I'm sure no one would actually do that. The lack of consistency between lettered & non-lettered devices in this system does confuse me though).

Are fire alarms suppose to have "FIRE" lettering on them? In this video, most of them don't. Is that against the code? And the ones that do are custom made. Just because the alarms are red doesn't always mean it's a fire alarm.

BlackLightning 4547 all of the spectra alerts that come new in box have stickers on them so that you can make it say fire, alert, evac, or agent on them but they only have a 3 year shelf life, so most of the alarms here are old stock some are brand new
@Oof-zl6lt
4 жыл бұрын
BlackLightning 4547 true. But, that’s not always the case. Sure, at most airports have wheelock mt’s and they aren’t fire alarms because they have no fire lettering on them because they are general signaling alarms. But, at my school there is a simplex truealert that has no fire lettering on them nor does it say simplex or truealert on the alarm either. But schools don’t have general signaling alarms like the airports do. So sometimes alarms that do not have fire lettering on them are fire alarms, and sometimes they aren’t. But those spectralert advances were fire alarms because they were activated by a pull station. And when I had that fire drill in school, it was activated by a panel. But general signaling alarms cannot be activated by a pull station, a panel, or an announciater.

ADT's fire alarm division plus Silent Knight, Notifier, and Fire-Lite are all owned by Honeywell. System Sensor is also owned by Honeywell, hence why you see Spectralerts paired up with Notifier and Fire Lite a lot.

@@joeycaridi3030 Oh yeah: forgot that System Sensor sold decal kits for their Advance-series.
0:37 What was that!? that was so weird but funny at the same time. I prefer these over the ear piercing original advances

Cesar Blanco Technically, the CH series is multitone. The CH and CHS series are capable of doing various speeds of chimes and a slow whoop tone.

Fire alarm alarm

Are fire alarms suppose to have "FIRE" lettering on them? In this video, most of them don't. Is that against the code? And the ones that do are custom made. Just because the alarms are red doesn't always mean it's a fire alarm.

BlackLightning 4547 Not code. At least according to NFPA. Some local AHJ's may require it however. Depends.

BlackLightning 4547 all of the spectra alerts that come new in box have stickers on them so that you can make it say fire, alert, evac, or agent on them but they only have a 3 year shelf life, so most of the alarms here are old stock some are brand new

That sounds like a EST Genesis
Can't you go to the exit because there's a fire alarm in the building so you have to evacuate

I saw these at the beer store but it was white and they weren’t that loud
How come they were unmarked?
I have these a lot in my house on my simplex 4100Es panel and they are synced to and outside it a simplex turealerts speaker strobe that alerts my neighbors that there's a fire and help the fire department see where the house there responding to is because the light from the strobe gets there attention in my work shop outside I have a Spectra alert advance horn strobe and a Simplex Annouiator

The candella is the intensity (brightness) of the strobe. The higher the candella, the brighter the strobe will be.

ADT's fire alarm division plus Silent Knight, Notifier, and Fire-Lite are all owned by Honeywell. They each share pull designs as well as occasionally panel and annunciator designs though some of their products are original and varie. System Sensor is also owned by Honeywell, hence why you see Spectralerts paired up with Notifier and Fire Lite a lot.
