Yay! My question got answered! That was really helpful actually. I think I've been holding my mist sprayer much too close and I do more than one layer at a time. Will definitely change my method from now on!

I enjoy using it with the final fixative. A huge thing that I noticed is when I would use the other colored pencil fixative, the Advanced Color fixative for pencils, as it would cure a wax bloom would come through not noticeable initially. So I had nothing to lose and after it cured I used this Spectrafix over it and Bam! the bloom dissapeared. I waited a couple more days just to make sure and it was gone it happened to be a piece that I varnished so I didn’t want to see the bloom through the Matt/satin varnish. I love using the products in tandem for pastel work and since I am left handed I give a spritz after a full layer and keep the glassine on the left. Framers always ask if there is a fixative. Thank you and I enjoy your art. Oh if one has trouble finding the aerosol bottles Walmart sells them under Flairosol and I have seen them at Hobby Lobby. Huge difference.

Great advice! I use this combination and I think I'm just using too heavy of a layer. I'll try just a light misting next time. Thanks!

I've been using spectrafix and a flarisol spray bottle for my pastel work, and I still get droplets. XD I spray my work with it resting against a wall or something, so that if there are droplets they are less likely to fall on my drawing, but it still happens, and the droplets are unfortunately still noticeable when it dries.

Just lightly blend those out with your fingers when it's dry :D

The BEST FIX and one that solves all of the problems I read on this thread is to use an airbrush with a psi of about 20. No droplets and better control. Just pour a little of the fixative into the cup of the airbrush and go.

@Lachri Fine Art what do you mean by blending the soft pastel with the spectrafix droplets on it out after its dry? Like reblend the area? The droplets have been leaving actual waterspot looking things on my work so idk how to blend it out after, as it's "fixative-d" hahaha

It's so frustrating because I've tried sooo many misters, aerosol sprayers etc but with soft pastel any droplets leave waterspot like looking ickyness. But I can't find one yet that does it fine enough to actually cover the area and then not have atleast a few droplets. Drives me nutssss. Lol.

The BEST FIX and one that solves all of the problems I read hear is to use an airbrush for application. Not one heavy droplet in 10 years of working over pastels or charcoals

I find the larger droplets eventually dry away, they just take longer. I do the same and spay from a foot or so. Never had any problems on graphite or Polychromos

@@Lachri that's what I use it on mainly. Probably like you a light spray at different stages, especially on a larger drawing. Love the channel by the way. I've always drawn, but since lockdown I've tried watercolour. I'm terrible, but I'll get there with guidance from people such as yourself. Merry christmas. Mx

I love Spectrafix, but until recently was trying to make it work straight from the bottle 😒 I think it is a bit misleading to have a trigger sprayer fitting on the bottle. It should come with a screw top so you don't even try using it without a miister bottle. Still a brilliant product, though.
