🇲🇽 SPECTACULAR San Luis POTOSÍ | The Most ICONIC CITY in Mexico? | TRAVEL MEXICO 2022

🇲🇽 SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico - For part 19 of my 2022 Mexico Travel series we’re back in the legendary San Luis Potosí, a city and state I have now visited 4 times. You can check out the playlist of videos below!
FULL SAN LUIS PLAYLIST - • 🇲🇽SAN LUIS POTOSÍ es I...
This video is very much a REMAKE, incorporating points from previous videos (particularly for newer viewers, there about 20000 new viewers since I first filmed in SLP). San Luis is the home to Costanzo Chocolates, Enchiladas Potosinas and Huastecas (awesome comida Mexicana - Mexican food!) and the gateway to other spectacular destinations in the state such as Huasteca Potosina, Xilitla, the Edward James Garden, Real de Catorce, and Cerro de San Pedro, all of which I have visited in the past! There are plenty of things to do and places to visit in SLP!
San Luis is absolutely a growing Mexico tourism destination in Mexico. It’s even becoming more popular with expats or those wishing to move to Mexico. In this video we check out a number of the awesome churches and cathedrals, eat Princesas (Costanzos), visit Parque Alameda and more!
Many ask whether Mexico is safe or dangerous and as a result, stick to Guanajuato or San Miguel de Allende. The fact is, SLP is just as beautiful and is absolutely a viable destination! Potosinos and Potosinas are probably some of the proudest people in Mexico and will always welcome you with open arms!

🇺🇸 Hi everyone, it was great to be back in San Luis! Please pay attention to the video and understand that this is a LEGACY CHARACTER REMAKE VIDEO therefore I go to places that I have been to in previous videos to highlight SLP to new viewers, and that I have been to San Luis 4 times and have previously visited Huasteca Potosina, Xilitla, Ciudad Valles, Real de Catorce, Matehuala, Cedral, and Cerro de San Pedro in addition to filming MULTIPLE videos in San Luis city itself (ie out of the Centro area such as Tangamanga parks - FULL PLAYLIST - kzread.info/dash/bejne/qW18xrSGosm-qpc.html). Note that I was only in SLP for 2 nights to visit a friend and I left on June 5th. I was simply making my way back north from my passport collection in CDMX!

Your Real de Catorce was the first video I watched, on your channel. I watched that video, over and over! The place itself is magical and enigmatic, but watching you discover all the cool things about it, was very refreshing. You were discovering a place and about yourself, at that place! ❤️

Marcela! You're the best, that's exactly what that video was about, discovering a place and myself! Very well described! I was going to go back there to film a remake, but I decided I wanted to just keep the memory of the original!

Hey, David! You know, I'm from Mexico City, but I moved to SLP to get a master degree at Colegio de San Luis some time ago. I lived there for almost three years, from 2018 to January 2021. What a lovely city! It really became my home and I got to love it just like I love my home town. Your video made me feel nostalgic and eager to go back. If you are still there (and haven't done this already), go have breakfast at Café Corta'o. Try the molletes abolengo (a sort of mushroom sauce) and the meat ones. Also, try the cupcakes at Las Castañas, on Carranza Avenue, near the Tequis park. And the cinammon covered nuts from Constanzo! SLP is truly magical. Your content is awesome. I'm glad you spent a good share of time in Mexico! Always welcome, dude.

Habia vendedores ambulantes de chicharron con una salsa roja deliciosa. Cuando entraron los PANISTAS al gobierno estatal los quitaron😪 las caminatas en la noche en el centro histórico. I'm surprised you mentioned Guadalajara among the over-represented cities of Mexico. We're not really known for tourism as much as being a kind of jumping off point, especially to Puerto Vallarta. Either way, what you were saying is why I and so many others are drawn to your channel; your willingness to go to lesser known places.

I like the fact that you travel to cities that few tourists or even ex-pats ever get to. Even fewer choose such places like SLP, Zacatecas, Puebla, Monterrey, or completely ignored Tepic (Nayarit) to visit or take up residence in. I guess most ex-pats choose places where there are other ex-pats since few of them speak Spanish and are probably not that interested in getting immersed in the local culture. We see a lot of that in the south of Spain where there are entire communities made up of elderly Brits.

  • @davidostrowski679

Absolutely, I feel like SLP is becoming more known in recent years, I even know some expats from the US who live there and some others who have set up some boutique hotels. I love Zacatecas! There are two videos coming from there soon, I was there about a week ago! Re immersion, although I can understand it's not easy to learn a language overnight, it does frustrate me. I don't understand why someone would move to an entirely new country but only live around fellow countrymen. It's like the people who think they live in Mexico City but never leave Condesa!

Seems like just last week I was there and we were looking for t-shirts…. Wait. Lol. I love SLP. It really is a beautiful city. I’m so glad you made a way to come to SLP, it was great to visit and I hope to see you again soon! Regarding the colors, it comes from indigenous roots. While there is a lot of colonial architecture, the colors come from the colorful indigenous influences. I have never been in any of these cathedrals in SLP but they sure are beautiful aren’t they? I love your videos as always hun but this one is one of my faves. That theatre is beautiful- have you ever been in inside? I like that shop with the Constanzas and the little shops around it. Also, I want to tell you that your pronunciation of Potosi has improved greatly. Xx

Hate to burst your bubble of trying pitaya in Indonesia like it should be better but it is not native to that area, it is a native fruit of Mexico and Central America! The best of the fruit would be here, not Asia. It was only named dragon fruit by European in origin people who wanted to sell the fruit to others of European origin.

Where did I say it was better in Indonesia? I said I had had it in Indonesia for example in drinks. I didn't say anything about it being better. Why would you assume I would think it was native to Indonesia? What a bizarre assumption. Classic Mexican insecurity hearing things I didn't even say or allude to! You should really work on your strange need to highlight Mexico being the best at everything and this weird rivalry with Europe. It's one of the most unattractive quality in so many Mexicans. Get over it, you're not inferior just because you're Mexican. Literally no one even thinks that.

This may sound racist but I must be honest...one thing I loved about mostly Catholic/Christian Mexico when I visited that country from North to South a few years ago is that unlike most European countries, I didn't see any Middle Easterners with their radical, backward religious beliefs, Africans or Asians which made my visit to that country quite pleasurable. I am seriously thinking about retiring in Mexico...Northern Mexico to be more specific.
