I love the budget version of this knife and I’m really wanting to get it in premium which isn’t something I normally do. Remette is a company to watch!

I thought when I seen this knife a while ago. It was named something else or by a different company. But I did think it was one of the most comfortable looking knives I've ever seen. It looks very ergonomic

Pretty sure Remette changed their name around a year ago The company was a bunch of letters that didn’t mean anything in English, so they changed it lol

The only one I could find on Amazon with these specs is the limited edition colored one. It’s about $200 with a $20 off coupon. I’m on the fence about ordering it because I’d much rather have the plain version, but I’ve really been wanting a high spec knife at a mid spec price.

I have seen a LuvThemKnives test where a Remette in m390 tested at 62.7 hrc.... Awesome! Better than a American company that costs $425 & intentionally runs it soft...?

If this is aimed at CRK you're way out of date: "Stonewashed CPM MagnaCut Drop Point Blade at 63-64 RC or CPM S45VN at 60-62 RC, depending on availability" That is not notably soft for either of those steels as far as I'm aware, and I don't think they've ever even used M390.

You could and should , calibrate your scale every couple weeks or every month at least. Doing so will keep your scale weighing things correctly...If you've never calibrated it, it is possible that over time, pressing or pulling the weighing platform, damages the mechanism and throws off the accuracy either over or under the correct weight. I recommend getting a scale that has a cover attached to it via hinges. That way, it pushes you to keep the measuring pad covered and helps the scale stay calibrated and provides accurate values.

It's very esthetically pleasing the way the blade. And the handle all kind of fit together but does look like a finger cutter. If you slide up that ramp on the choil

I think you summed this up perfectly; ergonomic functionality like a Spyderco but way prettier! I like the sleek, simple yet curvy look (not what the common folk just label minimalist) and this one adds the nice pop of a cool looking front flipper with a nice shock of blue on the thumb studs. Big yes to this one!

Love the look and the blade shape and the size... The scales, clip and being a frame-lock however make it a hard pass for me. Unfortunately the model with the better clip and Micarta scales is still a liner-lock so... this one just isn't for me.

PSA: There's a 30% off coupon on the budget versions of this knife that bring the price down to around the $35 range. That's in the "almost can't pass it up range".

I think I payed under $30 for my budget Wild Species. They really do price them aggressively. It's got to have the most premium knife action out of all my budget knives. Just extremely well tuned. Don't dig how they did the liner lock bar though, without any jimping and stuff. The thumb studs could be better too but overall, it's a steal for sure.

Do the Milled slots on the Lock Bar next to the pocket clip catch on the pocket? I seem to have that issue a lot when they are associated with the end of the pocket clip

If that pokey ass front flipper weren't on there, it might be appealing to me. I love the handle shape, and the way the forward choil blends into the handle. But then that stupid front flipper shows up to piss all over the party. And the way the jimping is set up, if you cut it off, you'd lose most of the jimping. And yes, I dislike front flippers enough that I'd cut one off an otherwise serviceable knife if doing so was workable.

May I ask what lube you use for the washers/ball bearings? I have been using Ballistol universal oil, but damn... it stinks, so I switched over to Skerper Maintenance oil, but this dries up fast. Benchmade's blue lube was recommended to me and also some nano oil, but I like neither, because they're not foodsafe or very healthy for that matter. Do you have any safe/harmless suggestions that won't dry up fast? How bad would it be for me to keep using my trusty skerper maintenance oil that unfortunately seems to evaporate? Will there be much damage. Thanks from a subscriber from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 👍🏻

Camelia oil is a popular option on japanese kitchen knives, inherently edible though I'm not sure how fast it'll dry in a pivot. I hate the smell of ballistol too but use it for this reason. KPL states the following in their faq (after being clear that camelia and knife shield are food safe): "Knife Pivot Lube lubricants (Original, Ultra-Lite, Heavy) do not contain toxic ingredients. Use lubricants sparingly to avoid excessive food contact. KPL Lubricants are not generally hazardous unless they enter the airway/lungs.". I use it on a lot of knives that see occasional food prep use and I'm still here - I do think there's a chance for a company to have a great new product though... If you really want to go to the effort there is a company literally called foodsafelubes, maybe it's worth contacting them or looking for similar in your area. One other thing to try - silicon spray is easy to get in food safe grades, you could try with some cheap stuff from the hardware store and see how it works for you before comitting to the edible version.
