I’m crying. I am going to be teaching students with Autism in a self contained class and been looking everywhere for ideas or to even see what teachers do in their class (for self contained and not gen Ed) and I FOUND YOU. I’m so happy. You have no idea how much I appreciate you making this video

As a mom of a special needs child I can attest that teachers are heroes!! With all the therapy, psychiatrist, psychologist and behavioral specialist it is teachers who give me hope in humanity. Supporting our children is supporting the entire family. Also, eventhough inclusion is the goal and most parents fear their kids being separated from their peers- a self-contained classroom has benefited my son tremendously. Observable progress after stalling in general education years before. Teachers like this are gifts to society!

I love the practice cards - this works better than trying to power struggle or coerce compliance in the middle of an outburst, and it is all about neurology. Being non-reactive when they are emotional, and later on having a moment to practice the skill means later on they are calm, collected and can access higher level cognitive functions. In the middle of an emotional upset the student can't access their reasoning/logical cognitive part of the brain. It's important to recognize that and not meet them in that emotional space and potentially escalate things. What a great channel, thanks for sharing!

This is an absolutely awesome piece! Special education is truthfully a journey of the heart, and this completely presentation completely embodies that. Within this you can clearly see how everything can help you manage a SPED class. It is absolutely incredible how you use even basic decorations to provide essential cues to your children as constant reminders. Thank you for some of the tips, I hope to be able to implement some of these inside of an inclusive classroom next year.

I wish my kids had an instructor like you...You take the time to make learning fun for your students. Great job on keeping the rewards relevant to their interests - I’ve seen it where the rewards don’t align w the child’s interest so the positive reinforcement doesn’t work as well

Hello from Micronesia. This is the first time I've watched your videos and it's amazing and at the same time, at least for me, mind boggling--only because I've never done or seen anything so cool like this. I'm a sped teacher as well, and I've never seen so much stuff happening in a classroom. I'd like to learn a lot of the things that you mentioned here which you said you showed in your previous videos. Again thank you very much.

Thank you so much for this video! It is soooo helpful. I’ve been studying early childhood education for almost 3 years now in Peru, but life got me a work 2 years ago as an elementary teacher that I really like. I just decided to change majors next fall to elementary education because I’m going to the us to finish my bachelors degree and I had the same amount of credits left for both careers. Today my new university asked me if I also wanted a special education endorsement and I was pretty sure about my answer. I just had a special education student at my homeroom this year and ever since then I’ve always known I want to educate myself more about it because I feel I could have been more prepared and he taught me a lot. He did had a shadow with him at all times even tho we did online school. I was just kinda scared because it’s all so new and unknown for me and didn’t know what to expect. This video really helped me know a little bit better what to expect ♥️
