  • @knifeyonline

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@TheWorldEnd2 yeah that's what I was thinking too, if they were weakened then they would also be warped? house fires burn up to 600C according to google, and the melting point of both steel and aluminium is above that. considering the graphics card PCB was still in tact, I would say the temp of the case wouldn't have gone near that. But of course there's paper and plastics that would burn in a case at much lower temps. If those brackets felt good putting them in then there's definitely no problems.

  • @user-ky9sq8sy8k

    @user-ky9sq8sy8k

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@knifeyonline Some heat-treatment processes for steel go at about 200-300 C, it has little to do with the melting point. But in case of the bracket it could get only softer due to exposure to fire and subsequent slow cooling in the ambient air - only if it was originally heat-treated (like quench+temper). But it looks more like just stamped steel - so I doubt it was negatively affected in any significant way.

    This is so heartbreaking. I'm based in Salem OR as well. The worst we have experienced here is the smoke turning the sky orange, and the air being too toxic to breath without an n95. I understood that the fires were destroying homes and even entire towns... But seeing it on camera? It hits differently: The reality of the situation suddenly takes a front seat. It reminds me of those old nuclear bomb test videos: there's nothing left but debris! Spencer truly is a champ! He seems to be taking the loss of his home very well! He definitely deserves a new pc after all of this. My heart goes out to you dear neighbor (And hey, maybe we can play TF2 sometime!)!

Recognized the 5S freeway out of Salem. Driven it many many times the past couple years visiting family up there. To see the level of devastation around that area, especially the scorched trees at the @5:15 mark, is borderline traumatic. At 5:15 is Sexton pass, and the Hugo exit is where I turn off to go home, or the Merlin exit. So cool to see my roads in a big channel!

    Look to the left, everything is burned. Look to the right, everything is burned. But somehow, in the middle of that, a house is practically intact, without any sign of fire damage. Like... HOW.

    My heart sinks looking at what is left of that area. Reminds me of Fort Mac a few years ago. Really nice of your two channels to team up on this.

    I hope no more people have to go through what this people went. Here in Greece we had a same situation and things went very bad for lots and lots of families and frineds. It's very warming to see that actually someone like LLT and Craft Computing help a guy by give him back something he lost and was put in all in good faith....! Job well done for both parties(LLT and Craft Computing)..... YOU ARE THE BEST AND REAL MVP!!!
