Special Books by Special Kids Interview!

Ойын-сауық

I guess even 20 minutes isn't enough! Here's part 2 of our interview with Chris from SBSK!
My name is Andy and I was born Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing and unable to speak, so sign language is my native language. I do music covers in American Sign Language (ASL), as well as tutorials and other fun series incorporating ASL! Sign Language allows a different perspective and experience in music, it truly shows the emotions and concepts behind the songs' meanings.

I watched Andy and Jaimieson twice before and kept thinking of them. I was so happy to see the longer edit. There's this native American aphorism I love: As you go through life, you will come to a great chasm: jump! It isn't as far as you think. You remind me of the guy standing there saying "Jump! You can make it!' The world needs you boys now, take care of.yourselves.

Andy is such an inspiring guy, can't wait to see all the things he's going to accomplish!! I watched all his ASL music videos and as a songwriter for over 20 years and a therapist it was so cool for me to see music communicated so beautifully, so passionately in a way I've not had the pleasure of seeing it done quite like this. I appreciate how open Jameson and Andy are. Very skilled compassionate communicators and super inspiring messages that I feel grateful to receive. Thank you for sharing.

Man I’ve been watching Chris’ videos non stop this month. Every spare second I get, I watch a video. And I recently watched the last video you did with him and this video was absolutely amazing. I’ve learned a deeper understanding of love and respect. Thanks for putting yourselves out there and being patient with people. Also, I started learning sign language and I signed up for ASL class for next year (sophomore year)

I love how you said your biggest dream is to change the world because as a corny person myself, that too is my biggest dream. 😁 I see a lot of myself in you. Like I also have an older brother who is 2 years older than me. He wanted to take Mechanical Engineering but parents forced him to take economics. I get that whole "he knows how to solve problems in his head." That sure is my brother. He's also my best friend. I, on the other hand, can't write. My mind is everywhere and I end up going away from the main idea. I convey things better through music, I think. I also love math and science hahaha I wish I have the same level of confidence as you, guys. I'm still working on mine. When Jaimeson said he's dyslexic and that doesn't have to do with intelligence, sort of hit me. Cause one thing I've always been "ashamed" of is how I can't read sheet music, since I am taking up a Bachelor's in piano performance. It doesn't sound so connected, but I see it like how others read words. I don't think I'm not knowledgeable in music or performing music, I mean heeeey I'm about to graduate, but it takes me so long to study new pieces which is the reason why I'm in college longer than prescribed. Anyway, this is getting too long. I love your interviews cause it makes me reflect on who I am, and find things that I can improve on. 💕

Hi there! I just saw your interview on sbsk and thought I'd check out your channel 😊. I wanted to say first off I am totally diggin the fro I think it's absolutely amazing 😍 lol but also on a more serious note, the things u said were very informative but also very heartwarming and meaningful. I think you are very intelligent and caring and you see the world from a different and wider point of view than most, which is truly a blessing in and of itself. I believe u will go far and be very successful in your life and do many great things. You seem like a genuinely good hearted person who wants to make a difference in the world and I believe people with a heart like yours deserves to have all the support and encouragement they can get and bc of that you now have one more new subscriber!! I look forward to watching your journey and seeing how far you go just keep being you and I'm sure the possibilities will be limitless!! 💖

I'm actually glad you're on KZread already because otherwise I would have suggested to start telling American Football stories and such. (I hope I got that detail right, being German - and living in Germany - I'm not familiar with US sports. ;)) Thanks to Chris for introducing you and your brother to he world. You're just a plain young man to me. (Some years ago I happened to see a guy without outer ears regularly at a train station.) I hope for you to meet a lot more people. It's a chance to grow.

I found you through SBSK, and I'm glad to have found such a great advocate for the Deaf and disability community. I followed you on Twitter the other day and have been enjoying your insight. Quick question - from the way your brother interprets your signing, it seems like there's a near 1:1 sign to English word correspondence. Do you use ASL grammar or SEE? I'm fairly rusty with my ASL but I find your signing to be a bit easier to follow!
