Thanks for the patience team - here's a new version of today's special that this time seems to have processed properly into 4K. I'll be deleting the old version at some point, so at a risk of being cheeky - a plea to those already viewing and commenting to re-comment below, and watch again! Cheers.

This was awesome as heck! Love to see Alan get a good go around! Your very thinly veiled boredom on the millennium dome is hilarious

Love it. Great work and it is fab to see Alan in his natural habitat. A relocation between berths etc without engaging own engines but using warps or such like is generally termed a 'cold move'.

I really enjoyed that. I particularly liked the Battersea Power Station - the Orwellian-esque opening bars of Pink Floyd's Sheep immediately began playing in my head.

@@AlexHibbertOriginals With hindsight I'd better correct my misplaced participial phrase to: I particularly liked the Battersea Power Station - the opening bars of Pink Floyd's Orwellian-esque Sheep immediately began playing in my head. I'm off to self flagellate (after I remove my hair shirt).

the pictures are amazing!!!!!
Loving the ongoing (never ending? 😉) and the relentless dry wit. Keep them coming.
A successful trip - boats like to be used and every trip provides feedback on what needs further attention/improvement. Nice film too - well done Alan.😀👍

I can't believe that Boris did come out to see Alan, the tubby fella normally loves any excuse for a party and could of take Alan to pepper pig world
Millennium dome always reminds me of some science fiction mad scientist's mind transfer device.
Blimey , i saw you going under Blackfriars Bridge , didn't realise it was you though . I was too far away to realise it was you and lost you on the other side of the bridge , how the heck am i supposed to keep up with a 6 mph speed demon like Alan ? Thoroughly enjoyed this video , your quips and seeing those who have helped you and been part of this project .

Ah! We were calling via social media for people to film us and sell us the footage....
Would have loved to see you passing by here in London. Just a minor suggestion: get a bigger engine so you can do some waterskiing behind Alan. That would allow for some nice recreational activity in the Arctic ;-)
@AlexHibbertOriginals

Alas, the top speed is limited by Alan's hull. 1000hp would still give us 6 knots, and a lot of noise.

Would need a pair of Dorado 350s and an aerofoil: under 1/10 of a million if you shop wisely, and get lucky.
Very handsome, Alan! He's too narrow for most single canal locks isnt he; seems like hes the right speed tho. I would think he'd fit the double wides..? You should take him through Falkirk and have him take a selfie at the top!
Hi Alex, love your and Alan's Story. I have my early eye on a FFLB of a similar size to Alan. Like yourself I would be looking at a livable more practical set up. Keep your fingers crossed for me 🤣

You really need to get one of those Sutton Flowform soft kites. They are usually very difficult to launch from a boat, but you have excellent launching platform high up. 3 meter kite can pull the boat faster than any motor and be very safe. When panicking you just cut the line and fish up the kite later. -- Correction: 3 meters is crazy big, it cuts fingers off. 180 cm Kap Foil 3.0 might be better. And you can string several small kites into same line.
Hey, it's 4k! Nice.

I get how airplanes fly, how cars work… I even get the principal of how boats float, but I’d be lying if I said I looked at a boat in dry dock and thought “that’ll definitely float!” 😂
I highly recommend to add 2Stroke Oil to your Diesel. Ratio is 200litre Diesel add 1litre 2T Oil. Let's you save at least 10% Diesel, the engine runs smoother, more power and no smoke. It lubricated the Injection Pump therefore producing more injection pressure. The modern Euro 4/5 Diesel has the lubricating Sulphur almost removed.

Would this work for other small diesel engines? My little lawn tractor could use a little more pep.
@arjunab6167
2 жыл бұрын
@@jgriff3218 Works for any Diesel engine, old or new injection system. You might see improvement only after it ran for a while, carbon deposits need to be burned off due to higher combustion temperature and cleaner burn.

@@AlexHibbertOriginals German Lorry drivers used it in the 50's already. Our local gas tank delivery guy gave me a hug after he tried it, lorry engine ran much smoother afterwards and no smoke. Another guy with same old pick up truck told me he knows about it and won't miss mixing it in, turns out he is a car mechanic. My old ISUZU with almost 800.000 km felt like it had an engine overhoul after adding it. At times I would forget or ran out of 2T oil, my wife would remind me to buy it and add it, because she felt the difference.

Yet if carefully controlled tests and measurements in the report say otherwise?
Thoroughly enjoyable. Nice tourist view of bits of London for an Aussie. So, a terribly annoying suggestion, as people who don’t own lifeboats obviously know more about them than the owner of one, how about a little ladder/steps from that stern hatch that lead around to the “top deck”? Your suggestion of some sort of stability control sounds very exciting. I am looking forward to hearing more about it. PS 4K resolution was a great improvement over the original but the audio was overwhelmed at times and made you difficult to hear. Why couldn’t we smell those snags cooking? Pls turn up smellovision to 8k.
@AlexHibbertOriginals
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yes I considered various ladder systems. From the stern they'd need the side hatches to be closed, and up over the top of the driving console would be precarious. The option from the port side hatch is fairly easy. Thinking of a step at the bow too.
I followed you all this way I'm to old to explore but man would I love to go I got alot ideas for ALAN SUCH AS A WINCH/ FIRE SUPRESSION SYSTEM/ STORAGE IDEAS ETC I THINK ADDING A OUT BOARD ENGINE OR 2 WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA MAYBE 2/ 25 HP YOU WOULD HAVE THE CHIOCE OF 3 ENGINES IN EMERGENCY IN THE NORTH POLE /YOU NEED 3 OF EVERYTHING ! FIRE ON BOARD IN YOU MAIN WORRY IM SURE YOU HAVE PLANS THANK YOU TONY

Would be possible, to use two lifeboats to creat one bigger ? And a small generator, and a eletric powerfull engine ? Sollar plates for recharge battery, and at night or when the weather isn't good, the small generator could be usefull. (Am I wrong ? ) I think that this would made this kind of boat increase the range, and this generator can provide power for a watter treatment, heat, and savatage things.
@AlexHibbertOriginals

It would also be possible to have a boat designed and built from scratch out of glass-innegra hybrid. But that would also cost me millions of pounds and completely restart the project.
Just out of interest, is "Alan" normally dry docked somewhere in the Sheerness area, I only ask because it didn't take you long to get to Thames Port container terminal,

Oww..is Alan narrow enough to tour the English canal system at all? He's surely too tall to go under any brides, but if he's thin enough, he might be able to knock around a bit.
@AlexHibbertOriginals

I'm not sure about canal and lock specs. Most TELBs are about 3-3.2m wide. They are tall though, although this varies a lot from model to model.
Dick seems cold. I know you had the hatches open much of the time, though. Have you tested Alan's insulation and ability to hold internal heat while underway?

Very warm actually, when the hatches are closed... We had a serious breeze, hatches open and near freezing temperatures though.
