Thank you for this review. The same watch available through a dealer in India has a Seiko (Hattori) VD53, as I was informed by him. I am buying one, but I feel a bit troubled over the strap adjustment - that it needs cutting! Never done this before!

I know.. I'm dubious about it too

i'm ok with the strap and the mineral glass. however, i agree with you that the lack of a mechaquartz is the deal breaker. what's the point of chronograph that can't time things more precisely than 1 second intervals?

Looking at this and the Automatic I would prefer the Chrono not to have the date window

Excellent review. That is a beautiful homage watch to the Patek Phillipe Aquanaut. The Germanized name stands for Woodpecker & Sons. Funny name, but with the Swiss/German vibe!

Hey Wes another lovely review 😀 thank you ! For $45 I think it's an amazing bargain but they should include an extra strap . They have done such a great job with the case , dial , pushers etc that it would have been better to add Sapphire & possibly a different movement but I think it's restrictive in this layout & charge a bit more 🤔 . Cheers

Just got my rose gold and brown colour way. I agree with you in that it should be a mechaquartz movement. I’d have paid happily $20 more for that movement. RE: the strap… I don’t mind at all. I have a few rubber straps that use this sort of method, of cutting it to size and using a deployant clasp. Overall for the price I paid (Aussie dollar equivalent to $44.91USD), it’s pretty decent and looks cool as!

In fact, as long as the three-pin model is enough, it is concise and not sloppy.

I bought it last year and it’s beautiful. Adjusting the strap is a pain in the behind though. It’s not easy and you can make it too short if you don’t take care. I had a bit luck and cut it just perfect so it fits just right. Strap is beautiful as well

I actually had that watch and it was very nice!

Thanks for showing, it is a good looking watch and good value. Unfortunately, the Seiko mecha-quartz movements come in limited configurations and I believe that when they have a subdial at 6 it is always running seconds (like the 3 subdial is the useless 24 hour).

Very easy! But be careful, maybe do a longer cut than the final just to ensure you get to the right fit
