Spearfishing on the Isle of Skye (Part 1)

Спорт

In June 2022 I had a superb Spearfishing trip to the Isle of Skye, one of the Inner Hebrides islands off the west coast of Scotland. The visibility was generally excellent, and large numbers of Pollock and Coalfish were present. I was also fortunate to see plenty of Grey Seals and Common Seals, as well as Puffins, Guilemots and other diving birds.
Aaron, who runs the Skye Spearfishing channel (see link below), kindly took us out on his new boat and gave us plenty of tips, check out his channel for more content.
Spearfishing in Scotland can be pretty tough, with most of the fish being fairly deep compared to the rest of the UK and a limited range of species (Pollock and Coalfish are the main species present). Water temperatures are also much lower, during the week I was on Skye 11-12 degrees.
