We are back in Mozambique diving off the capital city of Maputo.
From the numerous wrecks, rock piles, channel markers and a network of cave systems this part of the world has it all.
We are once again on the hunt for huge Malabar groupers.

Gran error cuando dispares corres la escopeta para atrás cojes el cordel que va de la escopeta a la varilla y lo recoges rápido para que no se meta en el hueco y así no te haga perder más tiempo

Herror si disparas a un pes dentro de un hueco el cordel que va de la escopeta a la varilla debes hacer un vallestrinque para que cuando le dispare no avance la varilla ni se trabe en las piedras 🪨
Cuando le dispares recobra la piesas rápido no la deje que coja para ningún hueco
No se te ocurra meterle la mano en las branquias a ese tipo de pescado cuando está vivo por que el sierra las branquias y te ahogas debajo del agua la única forma de sacarle la mano es con la otra mano acariciar las espinas de arriva y el pez la abra automáticamente

Are bottom-species such as the Grouper not under a lot of pressure in Southern Africa? I know Mozambique has little to no regulation of catch quota and species, but should it not be considered? I mean no criticism, just always wondered if it were right to hunt those bottoms aside from pelagic species and would like to know more about it.

Sheldrake. Hey there.Fair question. Certain grouper species are protected for sure. The Potato Grouper and the Brindle bass are protected in South Africa and Mozambique. These two species are very territorial and are very easy to remove from the reef. They do become a lot smarter however when they are in places that they are hunted. The potato Bass is also one of the apex predators on the reef and like sharks am sure they help keep the balance on the reef healthy. The malabar I think probably moves around a lot more and I would think would not be as vulnerable. In my opinion Protecting most grouper species in some way is a good idea. Same goes with most species I would argue. it’s just finding the right balance and making decisions from the correct data and not from an emotional stand point that is the difficult part. Then getting people to adhere to the rules. This footage was shot over 11 years ago so not exactly sure what the rules are now in this part of the world.

Hi Kris. It is just one we made. A stainless plate with a Go Gro Mount screwed into it.

Pesca submarina é muito covarde,vc que pratica isto deveria ter mais consciência, estamos tentando proteger a natureza, para mim matar um peixe assim é uma covardia. 😡😡
