Speaking to an Immigrant about the American Dream.

Is the American Dream dead? Or is it not?
Let's find out. I met Ramaiz ‪@zernoofficial‬ on a plane from Tashkent to Kuala Lumpur. We spent a day in Kuala Lumpur and then decided to have a chat about what we like and dislike about America.

Like the guest I had no idea this channel's host was a Russian national. 😅 Interesting chat. Despite some anti-immigrant rhetoric, being common throughout human history, mobility has been a net positive. In the US, social and economic mobility still makes it a great destination. Most of the people against it in the US are unwilling to move at all, either from their state, home town, or couch. 😐 These are the people who would really benefit from travel.

I agreed with this young Pakistan/American guy. I came across a story about one Indian guy who came to America with a tourist VISA and ended up owning $20 million dollar company in Silicon Valley, California. He was a college drop-out. He was a World record holder of cubic and got a connect to play against rich people or CEO of the companies. He knows how to do coding without going to college and he competes in hacking and his team wins all the time. Then, one day his team spent two days to create a software and one company bought his software. Then, he starts to become rich from then. I came to America with penny less and I process two homes now. In my 40 years life in America, I bought four homes so far. Most American like black people don't study hard to improve themself. They have a lot of opportunity to become a better citizen. They get a lot of help with government and can get access to free education and opportunity to get to a good college.

If he spent $80,000 for his civil engineering degree, he must have gone to a very prestigious private university. I believe my undergraduate degree in accounting was only around $15,000 at a large state school. In the US, you can go as far as your ambition takes you. The thing I've noticed in my young career is that the only ceiling is how much work you want to put in. If you have the skills, put in the time to perfect your craft, and treat people pleasantly, you can go as high as you want to go. We have our problems, like everywhere else, but what's great is we always manage to address and fix those problems as time passes.

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.” It a famous quote from Mark Twain that was his pen name Samuel Clemens was his real name a great American writer. My favorite from Mark Twain was when he was in the Holy Land staying in Capernaum by the Sea of Galilee. Twain asked a man in a rowboat how much he would charge to take them out on the water. The man saw Twain’s white suit, white shoes, and white hat and supposed he was a rich Texan. So the boatman said the cost would be twenty-five dollars (which, in Twain’s day, was a substantial amount of money). Twain walked away saying, “Now I know why Jesus walked.”

As a successful (financially and non financially ways) first generation immigrant in the USA I agree with most of what you both stated. I have been in America now for about 4 decades married to an American who i have 3 amazing children with that were born in this country. I can tell you one thing that is for certain in America. We as Americans have had it to good for too long and people are now making things up to complain about . A good portion of the individual Liberals in America have their hearts in the right place, in the sense they want to help everyone. However they are lucky that they can be naive to the horrors of being dependent on a govt to fix the problems for them or control their life in what you can and can't do. Unfortunately the liberals naiveness will be the downfall of America as we go further towards their push for censorship , acceptance of victimization, bigger gov't, radical wokeism and the destruction of the family unit. I lived here so long that I have sometimes taken it for granted how lucky and awesome I am for being able to come to this country. I'm not a republican either and believe both party and the MSM work for the same hidden entity in the background that are purposely trying to destroy the American standard of living in order to push us be dependent on a big govt for more control over us. As a minority foreign born American I fear BOTH party ,MSM, and BIG gov't controlled by special interest far more than anything else.

America is a very great country in many regards, but I think that it is important to note that no country is perfect. Some issues in our country include that healthcare is unaffordable for many, because we unfortunately do not have a government program for it; that housing is extremally unaffordable in many places due to certain regulations; public transportation is not built out well and is often not safe or convenient; and we do have quite a bit of economic inequality -- many of our cities have 'ghettos', which are extremely impoverished communities which are very difficult to break out of for a variety of economic and social reasons. However, I believe that as a country, we will solve these problems, and I do think that we are a very resilient and creative nation as a whole, and that we have more oppurtunity than most places in the world.

There are so many things I love about your videos. In this one, I’m thinking about how your videos confirm we all share a common humanity. Whether you are introducing us to your Aunt Galya, or nomads in remote Kazakhstan, or your old co-workers in Tennessee, or random strangers in Uzbekistan, we can see how much we all have in common. Despite cultural differences, we are more alike than different. Sorry for expressing such clichés. There are too many folks on the internet trying to spread hatred against entire nationalities, ethnic groups, religions, etc. Your videos are true service to humanity. Keep it up, Slava! 🇺🇸

I have been to Ukraine so I know a little of their affiliation and history. Hard to see a peaceful resolution right now. Anyway I wish you the best it would be a strong world if we could come together. Peace

Bro Elon musk doesn’t seem egoistic..he has fair take on most spectrums. He wants balance of power that has been taken the majority of it by one aisle . You can get most things on his platform that you don’t get allowed to have a discussion on on others .

Can someone explain to me what is an American Dream about? Because from the video and the comments below it seems to that it is all about having a nice house and a large SUV, and no matter whether you're educated or not, healthy or not, whether you're well travelled or not, what your job is, whether you like it or not, etc.

It is very easy to afford a college education in the US. You can attend a community college while working, especially these days with so much online, very affordably. There are scholarships. There are work-study programs. There are corporate reimbursement programs. It can be done. Hundreds of thousands of people are doing it RIGHT NOW.
