I've just listened to a song called Te quiero p.ta by this German band called Rammstein. Spanish is waaay cooler than p.nche English. You should be proud of your heritage, hombre.

The Chinese word "jiao4ao4" is actually quite contextual. Personally, I consider it a positive word. However, Chinese culture values humility, which is why it may convey a negative attitude if used to describe a person who has too much of it. But when you use it to describe how you feel in the same way as "I am/feel proud" in English, it is definitely positive. I think many problems in language learning are caused by oversimplifying the process for the sake of efficiency. The indirect approach leads to a lot of misunderstandings that can take a lot of time to correct later. This episode was inspiring . A good foundation of word roots can assist the active cognitive process of deeply encoding new words at a later time. I hope there are easier ways to associate meaning with pronunciation, making words sound like what they mean.

What are this persons languages in rank? Interesting to know. 1 English, 2 Chinese...I am guessing Michael Cambell has roots to eastern European migrants to the U.S.A.

For popular languages like French, Spanish, German, there are some frequency dictionaries available.

@@Chris_7796 Those only provide most frequented words, not root words (or, word roots, that's what actually matters), so there's still lot of work to do even with such a dictionary at hand. And when I say "lot of work", I mean reading (and analyzing those roots by yourself). And reading somehow gets against this know-it-all's advice "don't study written language" from another of his recent videos. Just saying.

Acquire a language similar to how we acquired our native language. A tremendous amount of listening and speaking. As older people we can include speaking and reading. It's all about input / output. Learn / Acquire words but in context, not isolated words.

I don't really get how to discover the same roots of words when you are a beginner. I'm not even sure about English even though I'm not a beginner in the language. more like un intermediate learner. I have some idea how English works and that more or less helps me to understand and learn it further. I think you need to have an experience to doing this in your native language and with other languages as well. looks like a lot of work but maybe it's really worth it. And it seems to me like it will stick in the memory deeper
