The Harsey folder is an fantastic knife. Whether or not it's worth the price is for each person to decide. I've had several of 'em. Spartan Customer Service is the best I've seen and experienced in the knife industry. Period.

same for the choil... I wish they'd thin the blade out too - you could have a slicier work horse. that stock is decently thick to support a hollow grind

I just picked up a plague doctor stone washed S45VN 4 inch with that same battle worn green for $395 on a particular knife website on consignment. Trading a BM LE mini Rukus E.E. I see on eBay many of these damascus itterations for $660 NIB. I thinnk the engraving AND the damascus makes it too busy. either plain scales fancy blade, or fancy scales plain (different finish, but NO fancy). It's just too much to take in all at the same time. These are awesome folders for sure!

I have the Plague Dr. with the plain S45VN blade. Really like it, but mine does have some play in the pivot. Doesn't affect the lock up, but it can feel a little janky on open/close. I should probably send it in for service, but haven't gotten around to it.

Ah have you tried to just tighten the pivot ever so slightly?

Yeah, but that's not the problem. It's just a function of the hole in the blade being a little too big relative to the pivot.@@DirkWerning

Yeah, that damascus is pretty awesome. I have a laser etched Zieba Six from the Knife Centre. Its a hex pattern, kinda like the rug in The Shining. I was quite surprised at how deep the etch is - you can really feel it, and it has quite sharp/coarse/clean lines. Laser etching is certainly an acquired taste I reckon...

Love the Harsey... The warthog pattern is a DLT exclusive.. The regular variant of the warthog is 550 that's Spartans usual price on the full size "custom" is 550 The upgraded blade is actually only a hundred so even a better deal!! 👊🏼 They have that variant that you're talking about with the Damascus blade and the black handles I almost pick one up about a month back forget where I saw it though 👊🏼

not a fan of the harsey in general but the plague doctor one is pretty sick...I'll be having some custom laser work done by Way of Knife at some point...

I like some laser engraved art. I have a SHF Spartan Babe. I figure there are so many plain TI folders, why not add a little something. Each to their own. I like it, more or pocket jewelry for the time being. Ask me after I get a scuff or two.😅 Undecided between Spartan Blades or CRK.🤷

It's an awesome looking knife! This is a knife on my grail list but a plain version as I'd carry and use it more. One like this would sit in the case and look pretty. Great video 👍

Honestly, I love the full size SHF. Oddly, I consider the jimping too sharp on the small version. I do love the engraving... but my two SHF are the only knives I have with laser engraving. They do grow on you... and they work well when being used. One thing that is hard to understate... they are lefty friendly. Many framelocks simply are not. This one is, not just the clip, but the lock works well from the left hand.

Since it's a Warthog, it should go "BRRRRRT" instead of "SNIKT" when you flip open the blade.

Yes this one is going back and unfortunately they are out of the plague doctor versions so he’ll get a credit and hope to find one in the future.

Blade on that one is definitely a stand out for me too. I have owned a few SHF’s but they never seem to stick around. Just haven’t connected with them Dunno why either 🤷‍♂️

Greetings from a Tiny Island in Maine, USA - That is a cool design and I prefer it over the plague dr. My question is will the colors in the design hold up and stand the test of time or fade and wear away ? Anyone have long term experience that can comment? Of all the designs, I like the Watch Works the best as I am a decades long fan of mechanical clocks & watches. I wanted the 3.25” size but could not justify the $, then while at a knife show, I saw the large version for a GREAT price BNIB so I got it. It is an awesome piece of craftsmanship that will compete with the CRK’s & any other high end / hard use folder. While I will use it as conditions allow, I am still hunting for a small version SHF for more convenient day to day carry.

I’m not sure on longterm use. I would say over time it would fade a little but that’s pretty normal to fade with wear.

@@carsten8111 you’re not wrong. BUT I keep those ones for sentimental reasons of the friendship I made specific to those three. (And they live on a shelf in the bottom of the safe 🤷🏼‍♂️)

Isn't it machined, not laser engraved?

If you know how to sharpen a blade that doesn’t have a choil, I don’t think you can go wrong with the Harsey.

Laser engraving on a knife is like pinstripe flames on a car… not for me.

Nothing against laser engraving, but did a 5-year-old draw this design? Tacky doesn‘t even begin to describe it, imho… 🙈
