I’ve been following JC for a while now and I can honestly say he’s a good ambassador for the sport of MMA and traditional martial arts. He’s a good sportsman,trainer and fighter and has come a long way, but is always willing to learn ways to improve his craft.
This is incredible sparring. Fast but controlled, technical but practical. Very little escalation. Smiling at each other when one of you does something impressive, or something goofy. Love it. Yuki is a machine. I didn't even pick up on him being so exhausted til he dropped down at the end because of how economical his movements are. 10/10.

Yuki spars in a way that speaks to me. It's that style where "there's no free real estate," meaning, he is robotic when it comes to counter striking. You can watch in every single exchange: any time Jeff moves in to take space and land a sequence, Yuki is always making sure to land something on Jeff on the way in/out every single time. It's a nightmare knowing you are always going to taker something in return to advance your gameplan. great video as always jeff and thanks to your guest too!

Definetly the best sparring to date I’ve seen over two years following pretty much every video. Thank you so much for doing this bro. Helps my sparring so much and this gotta be one of the best fighters you’ve sparred in terms of flow and grace? Plus super interesting back&forth. Would’ve been a hard match to score👏🏽 Joining a camp of yours when I have time and money for it in a couple of years. Big up from Oslo, Norway

I like the high pace, technical level, and volume. I like even more the lack of high power, damaging shots and ego. I suppose this is because you two are at a high enough level that you can both understand what shots would be truly damaging. Plus, being good buddies means you're also watching out for each other. Excellent video!

Yeah. It doesn't look like he had a lot of head movement, but then he does when he needs to. It's kind of deceptive. I need to watch this at least a couple of times.
The level of fitness needed to spar like this is unbelievable. Jeff is my favourite person to watch spar.

Sparring heavy and/or hard will always be a point of contention and discussion in the combat sport environment. But you can't deny the efficacy of sessions like this: people that understand what they're doing and what strikes would hurt at full power. So many times inexperienced fighters spar through shots that would've put them down without acknowledging them, and that's not a good habit. I went off topic, great content Jeff, as Always

my guy this was no where near heavy/hard sparring. You can have high intensity quick strikes without putting power behind it. Agree on sparring people that does not acknowledge shots that would otherwise hurt them.

@@MMAShredded no problem. I meant STATE of flow. But you probably knew what i ment. I have said this before on one of your videos: most fighters either spar too light or too hard. Hey Jeff, I'm a huge fan of your sparring videos and how you break them down. Learn so much from you. I just want to ask something with all due respect. When you do that extra low kick after each darting cross you usually do, I am curious if what is your main objective of that kick. Is it mainly to score? Something for the opponent to think about? I am under the assumption that it is not that damaging at all. Or is it? Is it deceptively damaging due to accumulation?
@MMAShredded
Жыл бұрын
It does a lot of damage. It looks like it doesn’t do damage because I’m throwing it controlled, the way I’m throwing everything controlled. But it’s also great for exiting out and creating distance after punching
@IlonggoDad
Жыл бұрын
@@MMAShredded Thanks Jeff! That's good to know... looked back to your hard spars and fights, yeah... when you throw them with force they do accumulative damage.

Jeff , you've created a great example here of practical DAILY sparring if muay thai is a significant part of your fighting profile...secondly, I think you incorporating more spinning movements is cool, because you commit to closing distance generally 💯 and can mix it with real or fake missed strikes. Lastly, as a clinch specialist myself, would love to see you spar with some fighters who fluidly mix clinch with their striking, and see how you deal with them ....great job as always...you are a testament to HARD WORK 🙌
@MMAShredded

thanks for your feedback :)
i feel as if this sparring really shows the different nuances of mma and muay thai striking. jeff seems more active and mobile, trying to create angles (reminds me actually a bit of dominic cruze, i think because of how far jeff throws his head off the center line when throwing stuff) while the straight muay thai guy seems "calmer", more upright and compact. i know jeff is also a muay thai instructor but the mma emphasis / adaptation seems to shimmer through. thats not negative by any means, just a little bit unorthodox for straight muay thai and probably quite cardio demanding. very nice sparring from both guys, awesome control and just the right intensity for everyday sparring
