    Same here since the release of Propaganda, back then I’d hear them on the radio and see them in European magazines such as Musik Express, Pop, Salut les Copains etc. I’ve never heard them played on the radio in Australia, and I never understood why compared to the rubbish that is usually on. I finally saw them in 23 in Sydney and Brisbane and thanks to Spotify and KZread, I’m having such a great time catching up on their back catalog.

    He's a natural counter tenor, who's struggle has been to reach the lower notes. By age and lower natural voice he can stretch much lower, at the same time still reaching as high as in his younger years. It sounds different, because now his falsetto technic is on a test, but he still makes it. An amazing singer!!! I seriously doubt there is anybody with his range at that age.

    If you want to listen to someone who literally reaches dog whistle notes, try Dimash Qudaibergen/Kudaibergen. He lacks about 4-5 notes in the lower register on a regular piano, on the other side, he is one note above the high register. Try 'SOS, d'un terrien en détresse' (or just 'SOS'), from the French - Canadian rock opera 'Starmania', 1978, originally sung by the late Daniel Balavoine. Another one is 'Stranger'. Here from 2021. kzread.info/dash/bejne/nnqnpJeBhtHTg6Q.html SOS, from the Chinese TV show competition 'I'm a Singer', 2017, when the Kazakh singer was 21 years of age. His international breakthrough. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fHmuk9OAg5O6YbQ.html Don't misunderstand me here. Dimash is an unbelievable singer, one of the best ever. A voice control many singers would (almost) kill for. I'm an admirer. It's impossible to not be. HOWEVER I'm a huge Sparks fan! And Russell's voice has been in my heart since December 1975, his voice apparatus my only lasting love 😂!

    @@annabackman3028 SOOOO AGREEEE! AMAZING MAN VOCALLY AND THEN SOME, and I don t say that lightly as I'm a great fan of the voices of the best male vocals ever-Simon Le Bon of Duran, Morten Harket of A-ha, Marian Gold of Alphaville, Neil Finn of Crowded House; there's a few others but their voices tend to be better than the material they usually have, so I bother not to include them. What also amazes me is how he can sprint and bounce about on a stage like that with cables and speakers everywhere and barely any room.

    @@kyachdistent1301So you did listen!😃 Still I love Russell's voice, it just reaches my soul somehow.💖 Can you believe how Russell's voice could have been, if he had had the same CRAZY dedication to singing and professional training like Dimash has? I mean... yeah!?🤩🤩🤩🤩😍 Dimash is probably not from this planet, so perhaps he shouldn't be counted. In 50 years or so, someone will find his spaceship somewhere around Kazakhstan 😂😂 ("SOME"? Handsome I assume?🤣 I have seen less good looking young men, yes😂😂!)

  • @kyachdistent1301

    @kyachdistent1301

    Жыл бұрын

    @@annabackman3028 I think Russell DOES have dedication-the man's not only so crazily busy that for many years he and his brother knocked out whole albums of tunes every year, plus a promotional schedule that they fill again and again with live shows that seem not to decrease with age, but he also sings astoundingly great for a man his age. Above all he has an all-round perfect voice, and inhabits every song he sings; this is not something your average singer can do (and many ARE average) and even more are just shit. This Dimash is a little singing child, and will probably NOT be singing like that for long, as there's no evidence as yet he'll use it for pop/rock purposes, always supposing he could. Russell is even BETTER as he doesn't even HAVE that so-called training. But there are amazing people out there that don't NEED it as they've an absolute aptitude for the job they do. Not quite sure the meaning behind what Russ's voice "could have been". It IS. What it COULD have been is only what it IS. Now if they were to churn out bad records like everybody else...I mean George Michael has a great great voice, but it's utterly wasted on the boring, sappy, old-man drivel he bangs out. Brilliant voice = wasted. But Russell, like Simon. Morten, Andy McC, Marian, Neil F do excellent music and albums = perfect voice for the job and utterly NOT wasted. When Dimash knocks out even one album half as good as the weakest Duran/A-ha/Sparks etc. album out there, THEN and only THEN may he be considered an actual contender, but then that's only voice-wise, and I'm not sure I'd want to hear that style of singing often. There are many pleasanter vocals out there from the 80s I simply get singles from even if not albums. I don't like showy, over-egged voices for the sake of it, or poncy ones. That goes for the women either, from plastic auto-tuned barbies to all the gross caterwauling, shrieking old fishwives of pointlessness like Adele or drill-through-the-ear-grind through your nose Diarhianna, Knowles, Lopez slags.

    Yes, but sadly barely anyone seems to realise they truly smashed it with the 80s dawning. The 70s (despite their breakthrough) was so not their best period, it wasn't for anyone really, bar ABBA. Once their awesome 1979 album was created, THEN they became the Sparks I know and love (granted some singles throughout the 70s & odd album track) and they've just been hitting it ever since. Still are!!

Same with Sparks, David Bowie, obviously he's fine before, but it's the 80s sound and atmosphere that gets me every time. As far as "most insane comment EVER read"-clearly you don't read much AT ALL! Yes and for me, their songs and albums only started becoming truly important from 1979 when they discovered electronica and found it a perfect fit for their approach, which also coincided with much better writing, as Ron's skilled wordplay and outrageously witty, hilarious and caustic lines began mounting up like a colossal tidal wave.
