Really nice little tune up job, similar for many SOHC and DOHC engines with individual coils in the middle of the engine.

    Thanks for the video. Just changed mine today after 12 years! Cleaned the MAF sensor as well. That pesky Service Engine Soon light went off as a result although the code was for the thermostat. Gonna change that next.

    Hey Jane Doe thanks for the comment, I sometimes think at work "this is so simple I don't need to shoot this video." I have to remember it can be a little intimidating under the hood. Shoot the video, it will likely help someone and give them confidence to do it and find out, yep that was easy.

    Hey nice video, I'm thinking about replacing my spark plugs on a 2004 1.8L? Which spark plugs will you recommend for good quality and performance? Car has 168,000 miles and never had a tune up(I believe lol) and also I was told that my C02 sensor was out? Do you think i should do the tune-up first or replace that sensor? Thanks

    Question: I disconnected 2 coils and then pulled them out, so I had two loose coils (black boxes). I wanted to compare the two (bad idea). Anyhow, I got the coils mixed up and might have put the coils in the wrong compartments e.g. black box1 where black box3 was and vice versa. I however did not get the gray plug in (not sure what they're called "sensors?") switched up. I drove it around for 10 minutes and it seems to run fine. Would this cause a misfire or any problem if I truly switched the coils?

    Hi-great video-is there much of a difference with a newer Sentra? I have a 2011 reading misfire when I had my tech check it-it hesitates when accelerating, shakes at idle and has actually died when stopping after driving awhile-mechanic says it will be $300+ due to labor involved in getting to plugs....any help would be appreciated

    ***** I am not sure that a bad spark plug will cause your car to die. Does your 2011 look similar to the car in the video, like your car has a coil on top of each spark plug? What was the code or codes in the computer?

    Hey, my buddies 01 sentra shakes hard when he drives. I think it's the spark plugs. But I connected it to a ob2 scanner and said maf sensor. I don't think it's the mass air flow causing this. But then again I'm no mechanic. Could you let me know what you might think it is?

    ***** If there is a code for the MAF I would at least see if you can clean the wires, if you can access them, take a good look at the air boot between the MAF and the throttle body and check for any cracks that would let air in. Cant have any leaks there. if it was a spark plug issue causing a misfire there should be a misfire code stored in memory. P0301, p0302, p0303, p0304

    If you mean simple replacement, no there should not be. I am surprised that the box of spark plugs I usually get (like a 4pack of plugs) on the inside it explains how to tighten them, maybe peek inside and see what you see.

    Adventures with Monkey probably a broken piston ring

  • @nathaniel781

    @nathaniel781

    5 жыл бұрын

    Adventures with Monkey - your valve cover gasket is bad. There is a gasket that goes around the whole valve cover and also a ring gasket for each spark plug. When the gasket fails, oil will seep into the spark plug chamber. Take off your valve cover and replace all the gaskets under it and you should be good to go.

  • @fixingcarsandstuff

    @fixingcarsandstuff

    Mercedes deberry Well spark plugs, coils, and plug wires that are bad will cause a misfire, and that could be the same thing. I would consider a hesitation less of a jerky feeling when driving then a misfire. I would consider a fuel issue or sensor problem when describing a hesitation. but defining what you feel with words can be tricky. If they need to be done due to maintenance I would at least do them 1st.

    I can't really say why, I wonder if fuel pressure is bleeding off somehow, so you have little to no fuel pressure when 1st starting. Maybe try to turn the key to the "ON" position (dash lights come on) leave it there for 3-4 seconds, then off for about 10 seconds, then back to the "ON" position again, and then the 3rd time try to start it and see if it starts right away.

  • @fixingcarsandstuff

    @fixingcarsandstuff

    Well you would need to do a few basic checks. Checking spark output at the spark plug, spark should be able to jump a gap of about 1./2 an inch. Likely is best to have someone check it out as you are doing now. Good luck with it.

The problem is that if I had screwed in the new spark plug, the short spark plug wrench would be stuck inside, it would not be pulled out along with the extension bar that it was attached to. Come on if you're gonna do a video do it right. You should be telling those who are new to this to do one plug at a time and not to remove them all at once because people did mess up the firing order if they don't know. These are big things to miss but otherwise you did fine. Recording camera angle is piss poor and you you dont gap these plugs but you could take 30 seconds to tell or show what gapping is because as you should know sometimes its are untapped or moved in shipping, Etc. You should've also removed the plug and show what a bad spark plug looks like. 😑
