Cuando era niño en Boston, nunca tuve un calendario de adventio, pero si lo hubiera tenido, habría comido todas las chocolatinas el 1 de deciembre.

Hi Alma, I noticed in this video you use the phrase "eso quiere decir". But on a previous video you mentioned that we should use the "contarte" to "tell". Please advise, are there any rules when should we use the word "decir" and when should we use the word "contarte"?

The phrase "eso quiere decir" is used to clarify some information you've just given. It is like saying "that means" (or "eso significa"). I strongly advice my students against studying rules. Instead of that, pay attention to the context in which a particular word or phrase is used. The most important words and phrases will come up again and again in many different contexts and that is what will allow your mind to fully understand the meaning of that word. Once you've come across a particular word or phrase enough times you'll be able to use it yourself.

@@SpanishwithAlma Muchas gracais Alma. I agree with you totally. Trying to memorize grammar rules and vocabulary is generally a waste of time for me. But I am still often tempted to try.

En Inglaterra, las imágenes de la Navidad son muñecos de nieve, árboles de Navidad, oropel, acebo, petirrojos y por supuesto Santa Claus. Lamentablemente, el Belén rara vez se ve ahora, excepto en entornos religiosos.

Entiendo... Aquí también son populares los árboles de Navidad y Papá Noel, pero el Belén sigue siendo importante. Me parece una tradición muy bonita.

@@SpanishwithAlma Poco a poco, estas tradiciones se perden porque hay menos de gente que pratican el cristianismo. Las sociedades se secularizan, se comercializan y se multiculturalizan.
