Great video -I'm considering the digital nomad visa and I just spoke with a Spanish lawyer and was told that if we got our own private insurance through ASSA with full coverage and no deductible, then we could opt out of social security. That would save us a ton.

Can you actually opt out of social security if you have other insurance? Or is it only apply to insurance from ASSA?

Just to say that many parts of Spain can be quite cold in winter and very hot in summer. This is why I would recommend the Canary Islands, where the climate is temperate the whole year round. I am so glad I bought my apartment in West Tenerife.

Thanks Demy! I moved to Spain whilst the UK was part of the EU so didn't (and still don't) require a visa to live here 😊

I was hoping for a 15% tax rate on this Visa, considering I will most likely still have to pay taxes back home. Of course this depends on your agreement with your employer on how they will treat your employment, whether US based or international.

Thanks for watching Richard, I believe the US and Spain have a double taxation treaty? That should allow you to claim back some tax credits... worth looking at with a tax advisor perhaps

Hi Sagheer, thanks for watching! You can reach out to an immigration specialist or “gestor” in the city you’re interested in moving to and they will be able to direct you through the process and support you with your application 😊

I was glad when I heard of this visa and was looking forward to it but with the requirement of $25000 in the bank account I can just kiss goodbye this visa. Too bad, I was really hoping for the 2000-3000 income per month as a requirement.

Hey mate, if you can prove regular income through the commissions and that you meet the requirements then I don’t see why not 😊 where is your partner from by the way? If they are an EU National in particular, a much easier option would be for you to apply for a family member visa, as it’s much less paperwork. Hope this helps!

No. Don’t come to my country as digital nomad. You’re direct responsible for the raise of rental apartment prices for locals. This might lead to increased hostility towards these nomads.
